Introducing x ⚡ We are proud to share that we have partnered with Sabreena Urness, the owner and artisan behind Stellar + Sun Hat Co. to craft a capsule collection of bespoke hats for River Lodge. ⁠
⁠
The collaboration seamlessly blends Sabreena’s exquisite craftsmanship with River Lodge’s rustic-chic design aesthetic, culminating in a bold collection that includes two handwoven, hand-dyed Ecuadorian palm straw hats and three western fedoras crafted from the finest American beaver felt available. ⁠
⁠
Each hat is adorned with materials and decorative elements pulled directly from the custom furnishings and decor that Nomada’s creative director, .a.walker designed for the hotel. ⁠
⁠
“This is the start of something very special and it’s an honor to create hats in this way,” shared Sabreena. ⁠
⁠

BEHIND THE DESIGN ✷ @‌riverlodgepaso pt. II⁠

While all properties feature custom furniture and decor, River Lodge is unique in that it is the first to debut a complete capsule collection designed by creative director, Kimberly Walker. When asked about her inspiration for the project, she said: ⁠
⁠
“There’s a freedom to Paso. There’s this sort of anything-goes attitude, and I wanted to design something that had a lot of that cowboy culture and energy, but with some softness and elegance,” ⁠
⁠
This vibe is on display throughout the property in custom pieces like the velvet-upholstered bed, wing-back club chair, and leather inlaid walnut nightstands featured in each guestroom. Bold patterns like checkered tile showers and rich textures like serape fabrics and cowskin rugs are juxtaposed by clean lines and classic mid-century silhouettes, creating an ambiance of boutique luxury, bespoke craftsmanship, and a boots-off kind of spirit. ⁠

BEHIND THE DESIGN ✷ pt. I⁠

River Lodge has been a fixture along the stretch of Highway 101 between Paso Robles and Templeton since 1947. With a boomerang-shaped building, room-front parking, kidney bean pool, and an iconic sign — it was a quintessential midcentury motel — and just ’s type. After an extensive restoration, however, that classic motor lodge archetype stops with the architecture. ⁠
⁠
Last month’s grand opening revealed beautiful grounds with rose gardens, lush lawns, hand-woven hammocks, and fire pits tucked throughout the landscape. The central courtyard (decked out in Zellige tiles) is home to a state-of-the-art swimming pool surrounded by shaded daybeds and chaise loungers covered in luxury fabrics. ⁠
⁠
Inside, the lobby’s original circular brick fireplace was preserved and - quite literally - central to the design. The guestrooms have been furnished and decorated with original pieces designed by Nomada’s creative director, Kimberly Walker.⁠

“River Lodge is a place to first check-in, then check out — music, art, design, and culture,” she said. ⁠

Using the transformation of @‌hotelynezsyv as the blueprint, @‌nomadahotelgroup renovated the the property of the classic-motel Farmhouse to be a sanctuary surrounded by firepits, fountains, and citrus trees.⁠
⁠
“We want guests to feel like they can take their shoes off, walk through the gardens, read a book, drink some delicious local wine, and feel a sense of peace that only nature can provide – all while being a few blocks from downtown Paso Robles.”⁠
⁠
Farmhouse embodies its name – not in the design aesthetic you might assume–– but in a way that is infused with color and whimsy and unique design touches that make the space feel more French countryside than American outpost.⁠
⁠
From the antique tin-framed vanity mirrors, botanical wallpaper, pink petal pendant lights, original artisan pottery, and bespoke linen headboards, Farmhouse is a curation of @‌shopnomadadeco’s signature souvenirs brought to life in downtown Paso Robles.⁠
