The change in our country’s landscape as a result of disenfranchised black populations, and systematic racist policies, have made this a critical moment for all of us. We recognize this and we will not turn away from that which is happening in our communities.
Today, we are increasing our commitment to support the community at the local level by announcing a $10,000 charitable contribution to Peralta Colleges Foundation based in Oakland, CA.
Along with this financial commitment, we are working with the Peralta Foundation to develop a Cannabis Certification program from the ground floor and contribute our own knowledge base to the core curricula.
The Peralta Colleges serve a diverse population of over 21,000 students, largely consisting of African American, Hispanic American and Asian American young adult students. We hope this program will create more opportunities for our community members to participate in the thriving cannabis industry that exists here in Alameda County.
Harborside chose to partner with Merritt College on this program because we want to help those who enter our business develop a portfolio of skills that will allow any graduate to confidently say they have a deep knowledge of the cannabis supply chain and understand the financial side of consumer market demands.
We believe in constructing a future where social equity for all is the norm. This includes access to a great education, opening doors for leadership opportunities, and guaranteeing everyone has a voice.
“I look forward to working with Harborside in designing our Cannabis Certification program at Merritt College. We believe through certification and skills preparation our students will be well prepared for jobs in the industry,”
