As the New Year approaches, we have a big change at our San Jose shop happening!

First of all, HUGE THANK YOU to all our loyal patrons who have kept us running for 6+ years!!

I opened The Source Zero, San Jose on February 14, 2019, through the amazing small business growth program .sj in one of their adorable pop up spaces in San Pedro square. I had the pleasure of growing my brand concept there for 2.5 years, and since, have settled into our third location in our little corner shop in .

The store has ebbed and flowed throughout the moves and economy shifts, and loyal customers have shown their smiling faces to refill over and over, keeping us running!

Many of our regulars have had the pleasure of interacting with over the years.

Ruth has managed the storefront in San Jose for the last 2 years. She also worked at the shop our first year in business in 2019, and was an amazing and present support structure while I was figuring out how to run a small business in the heart of the silicon valley!

Ruth has been managing TSZ San Jose these past two years, as I personally moved to Colorado in summer of 2023. I have been spreading The Source Zero through Southern Wyoming and Northern Colorado, alongside our sister store out here
I have also focused back into the manufacturing of low waste body care, soaps, and much of what we sell at our locations. My original interest!

As the business grows, and I no longer reside in California, the natural progression is for Ruth to take over the San Jose storefront!

I am creating another Source Zero venture in Southern Wyoming called , if you want videos of me making yummy body care in my “laboratory”, or if you live out here on the Front Range, please follow that account to see where I will be popping up our shop and offering access to low waste goodies!

There are Big plans on the way to spread access to at home soap refilling, spearheaded by Stay tuned for the evolution of refilling!

We have some new products in stock for you! Finally found an amazing bath bomb vendor, and have four of her delicious XL bath bombs!

And! We’re finally making more of our in-house products. We have two new bath scrubs - in bulk as well as prepackaged; in rose vanilla sugar scrub and into the woods salt scrub.
We made a pain relieving fizzy bath soak with our cannabis infused oil, and have our shower steamers, detox bath, soak, and bulk lavender bath soak ready for you to come grab!

One of my biggest “soapbox” topics is sunscreen! I believe we should all have the knowledge of the affects on the coral reefs, planet, as well as our living bodies that chemical sunscreens pose…

Popular ocean and beach Destinations such as Hawaii, Key West, parts of Mexico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Aruba, Bonaire, or Palau have banned the use of chemical sunscreens.
The FDA lists oxybenzone and other chemical sunscreens as “safe”, when we are one of the the only developed nations that has yet to remove it from our products due to the hazards they pose.

I’m sure many people have heard that chemical sunscreens kill the coral reefs. 🪸🐠
This happens because (among others) are mimicking estrogen and blocking the production of testosterone in bodies.
Therefore, it holds that it would also be disrupting the hormones in us as animals. We’re learning more and more every day about the effects of on babies, adults, and the environment, and it’s not great news. Alternatives to protecting yourself when you’re playing outside, are physical sunscreens such as zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, and natural oils such as carrot seed and red raspberry seed oils. A skin suit is always a wonderful option without the hassle of sunscreening your full body!
