Board Feeding and Care!

Thank you for purchasing a one of a kind board from us! This board has already been finished with an FDA approved food grade finish (Mineral oil and certified organic beeswax). Below you will find maintenance and care instructions to keep your board in its best possible condition!

Cleaning: Wash your board when it is soiled by using a damp cloth or sponge with mild dish soap - making sure to clean all sides equally. Once cleaned, *towel it dry* and then leave the board to air dry in an upright position (on its side). If your board has feet that keep it elevated off your countertop, it should dry flat. Never leave it to dry on either face as this may cause the board to warp. Do not submerge in water for more than a few moments during the washing process, and NEVER PUT IT IN A DISHWASHER! Dishwashers use a much stronger soap and a much higher temperature dry cycle which will cause the board to warp or even split.

Re-Finishing: Upkeep and refinishing your board is easy! Over time your board will become worn and fade from its initial sheen. We recommend that you re-finish your board once every other month or when the board becomes dry. Start by wiping your choice of finish all over the board, and letting the board soak it in for at least an hour (we suggest using beeswax, mineral oil, or a commercial "cutting board conditioner") You can let this sit overnight if you wish, it won't hurt anything! Next, simply buff the finish off with a lint free towel or paper towel to remove the remaining oil. Be aware that if you use a food oil such as canola, linseed (flax), olive, etc: These oils will go rancid and cause your board to smell terrible and carry that smell and flavor to your food. We supply a 1oz. tin of board conditioner with every board we make, and if you'd like more - just ask, we're happy to sell you a can!

Storage: Store your board in a cool, dry place upright on its side, or flat on its feet if it has them. Store away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as ovens, as this may cause the board to warp or split as it dries out unevenly.

Please remember that this is a cutting board, not a trivet. Do not put hot pots, pans, skillets, etc directly on it. This will lead to failure of the board. If you’re taking meat out of the oven (brisket, ribs, etc) do not put it directly on the board to rest. Let it rest on your stovetop before transferring it to the board for cutting.

If you have any questions regarding refinishing your board or general questions, feel free to contact us!

“If you could explain something perfectly, then you’d never need art. That was the difference between a table and a beautiful woodcutting. You could explain the table: its purpose, its shape, its nature. The woodcutting you simply had to experience.” —Brandon Sanderson

With that in mind, New Angle Woods is going to make more art than ever before.
