💕
Back in 2014 I had an esophageal tumor removed. It caused a lot of damage and in 2015 I herniated my surgical incision. I had to go back under the knife to repair the incision and basically stuff my organs back where they belonged. This surgery and the one before and the two after it, taught me a few lessons.
1. Life is short. Like really, really short.
2. If you want to do something, don’t put it on the back burner. There might not be time for it later.
3. You are a lot stronger than you think.
4. Tell your family how you feel. I’m not a mushy person, but being told you might be dead soon, got me saying “I love you” as often as I could.
5. The sky’s the limit. If you set your mind to something and you work your ass off, you can achieve things you never dreamed possible.
6. Ask for help. I have always prided myself on my ability to take care of myself. During 2014-2018 I had six surgeries. I needed help. Learning how to ask for help taught me that needing help didn’t make me weak, it made me human. We all need help.
7. Do what you love and love what you do. Finding your passion is so important to who you are.
8. Surround yourself with people who love you and who you love.
9. If you need to rest, rest. Your body is not robotic. We have no problem charging our cellphone batteries because God forbid they die, but we can’t rest and heal because it means we are lazy.
10. If you feel lost, work to find yourself. You’re in there, you just need to look in the right place. As women we have a tendency to forgot who we are after marriage and kids. We worry about everyone else and forgot about ourselves. It is so important to know who we are so we can be the best wife, Mother, sister, friend, employee. It’s not selfish to know who you are and to know your worth. Lots of people count on you. Take ownership of your life so that no one else can.
