One of the weirdest Halloweens ever, we sat around all day watching Modern Family while it poured, followed up by dinner down the road, no candy, no costumes, no tricker treaters, no tricker drinking....really what is this world coming to??? A great holiday to miss and yet a bit of a bummer, I'm sure our Bellingham adults are having a great time together tonight!

Monkeys, monkeys and more monkeys! Toucans, sloths, caiman, iguana, poisonous snakes and trillions of huge ants were all apart of our day! A short bus ride to the next town and a bit of exploring through the Cahuita National Park brought us all sorts of good times. Before the walk Anders drank too much hot chocolate and vomited outside of the restaurant, Payton had to pooh so badly that she did so in the woods over a log, on the bus a drunk crazy man sat by Anders telling him to stay in school or he'd whip him. Today was full of great memories made. Oh this doesn't even include me dropping my phone in the ocean when walking across a thigh high deep spot on our hike. Luckily I noticed within minutes and Parker put on snorkeling gear and actually found it!!!!! Now we will see if it decides to work again?

The last week or two had been extra difficult, we really didn't think about how we would entertain ourselves everyday without spending tons of money, the beach is great but after six weeks here the kids (and the adults) now take the beach for granted and in need of a change. There has been tons of arguing between all if us, last night I sent everyone to bed at 7:15, including myself. Hopefully we figure it out before we all strangle each other :) oh happy family memories.

Hard to believe but this was a huge iguana hanging out in our driveway last week. I think this was more shocking to see than monkeys in the wild.

Another carnival in this tiny little town! Who knew Ticos (that's what a Costa Rican is called, sounds derogatory to me??) would be such carnival goers! More terrifying rides that all last three times as long as the ones at home. The good news is that the kids were scared enough that they had no desire to spend money and go on any rides except for the bumper cars!

Had a gorgeous day in Puerto Viejo, believe it or not this is a very picky place in the weather department, tons of rain, lots of humidity, off and on cloud coverage but today nothing but beautiful blue sky and a calm Caribbean Sea! Robert and I may have indulged in a few too many cocktails last night so we were game for a lunch out at Bread & Chocolate (our new favorite place here) they have delicious sandwiches and amazing mocha cheesecake, pretty much to die for. We are so over rice and beans and this is one of the only places you can have good cheese and good sandwich meat, items I will so appreciate when we get to the states!!! After that we headed to the beach in our neighborhood and played in the mellow waves and just enjoyed the weather. Next stop, a 15 minute bike ride, to a butterfly garden, unfortunately this place has nothing on the Pacific Science Center, we've seen more and roamed in a way bigger space right in down town Seattle. Oh well hopefully our entry money went to something good :) next stop another beach, Punta UVA, where we did some snorkeling around corral and caves. Anders has always loved the water as much as Parker and Payton but lately he has just taken off, he loves snorkeling and is so great at going to the bottom with his snorkeling gear on and chasing after fish before coming back to the surface, it's always fun to see him excel at things because nothing ever comes super easy for him like it does for those other two, they might not be great at what they are doing but they can figure it out. Poor Anders has to try twice as hard at everything however it makes it so exciting when he's successful. And finally tonight's dinner is brought to you by cup a noodle, we were all pretty excited to have cup of noodles for DINNER! Only 10 days left until we head to the west coast, our departure will be bitter sweet.
