Todd Lockwood – Author & Illustrator Event
Fantasy illustrator and artist Todd Lockwood was at our favorite bookstore, Borderlands Books, to promote his debut novel The Summer Dragon. Both the jacket painting and interior black and white illustrations are by Todd as well. (Note for the collectors: The Summer Dragon went almost immediately to second printings, so jump on a first printing if you happen to come across one.)
Todd is the winner of the 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2016 Chelsey Awards for Artistic Achievement in the categories for Gaming-Related Illustration, Paperback, Magazine and Best Cover Illustration - Novel.
Todd started as a professional illustrator in 1993 creating covers for Asimov’s Magazine. Since then, his paintings and illustrations have provided the jacket art for hundreds of books and magazines, from Asimov’s Magazine to the famously popular Forgotten Realms books featuring the dark elf Drizzt created by author R. A. Salvatore, and contribute the wonderful jacket art for the U.S. Editions of Steven Erikson’s series The Malazan Book of the Fallen.
His career took off after he attended the 1994 Worldcon in Manitoba, where he showed his work to many attending artists, receiving encouragement and making contacts many of the artists, including the Hugo and Nebula awarding winning artist Michael Whelan.
We have a copy of Midnight Tides, Book Five of the Malazan Book of the Fallen is signed by the author Steven Erikson and the jacket artist Todd Lockwood available at our website www.topshelfbooks.com . The copy is in fine, unread condition and is, of course, a true first edition, first printing. (Stated First Edition on the copyright page with the “1” present in the complete number line.)
