Castro Art Walk is happening again! Friday May 1st from 5-8 pm you can visit over 20 galleries and merchants in the Castro to see some amazing art! At our Castro store Welcome Castro which we have now rebranded to San Francisco Mercantile Castro, we'll be featuring Rachel Diaz-Bastin, artist and entomologist. Rachel works during the day at the California Academy of Sciences an in her free time does these amazing illustrations. She'll be bringing insect specimens with her so we can see where her inspiration comes from!

Mark your calendars for Friday, December 5th, 5–8 pm — the first Friday of every month!

This month, 20 galleries and merchants will be showcasing an incredible mix of local artwork. Our featured artist is Alexander von Wolff, known for his stunning wall pieces created from vintage matchbook imagery — you won’t want to miss it!

The neighborhood is fully decked out for the holidays, and we’ll be serving refreshments to make the evening extra festive. 🎄🍷

Our monthly Castro Art Walk is tomorrow, Friday Nov. 7th from 5-8 pm!

We will be featuring Laurence Srinivasan, and serving hot spiced cider and cookies to help get us in the holiday spirit!

The Studio for Metropolitan Craft is an interdisciplinary design studio that focuses on the intersection of craft, design, and technology. The studio was founded in 2011 by Laurence Srinivasan, an architect and craftsman based in San Francisco, CA.

The studio is committed to exploring the relationship between traditional craft techniques and new digital tools and fabrication methods. We aim to create innovative designs that are rooted in the history and culture of the places where we work, while also pushing the boundaries of what is possible with contemporary technology.

Some of the studio's notable projects include the Bay Area Models Series, a top entry in the San Jose Light Tower Design competition, exhibits at the Art Explosion San Francisco, digitally fabricated furniture, and the Market Street Prototyping Festival.

The Studio for Metropolitan Craft also provides design and consulting services to clients in a variety of industries, including architecture and product design. We have worked with organizations such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Craft & Design, and the DeYoung Museum.
