Books have always brought people together. Last Thursday was a beautiful reminder of just how powerful that can be 🤍

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Author Chat & Book Reading with Mia Bolton (), author of As We Bloom. We gathered as mostly strangers, but left feeling a little more connected to one another, to ourselves, and to the stories that shape us.

Thank you, Mia, for sharing your journey so openly and courageously. Your reflections on trust, reinvention, joy, belonging, and becoming sparked a conversation that will stay with us for a long time.

And thank you to Moniker General () for hosting us in such a beautiful space and helping make this gathering possible. And to the team for making the most beautiful bouquets.

Most of all, thank you to our community. In a world that often feels rushed and disconnected, it means so much to see people show up for meaningful conversations, independent authors, local businesses, and each other.

Missed the event? No worries. 🌸 We have a limited number of signed copies of As We Bloom available at our shop inside Liberty Public Market. Stop by and grab one while they last.

What if Q3 is the quarter that changes how you see yourself and the world around you?

In July, we explore heartbreak, identity, and the unraveling of intimacy through a raw and deeply moving memoir of marriage.

In August, we take a sharp fictional detour into identity, tradition, womanhood, and current cultural conversations with one of the buzziest novels of the year.

By September, we return to mindset and personal growth, questioning the beliefs that quietly shape what we think is possible for our lives.

Ready for our Q3 2026 Book Club lineup? 📚✨
Scroll to meet the books guiding our next season of conversation.

Our book club, You Should Read Monthly, is open to anyone curious enough to grow. Join for a single month, or subscribe and have each pick delivered to your door ($32.99 + shipping). You can even gift 1-to-6 months to someone you love (highly recommend).

If 2026 is about becoming more honest, more self-aware, and more intentional, this is your space 🤍

NEW gift boxes just landed ✨📚🎁

Book lovers (current & aspiring ) – we are YOUR shop!

Just over 2 years ago, we* were the people frantically searching indie shop shelves and scrolling the internet for goodies from different makers to build thoughtful gifts for the humans in our lives.

It felt like... [insert emoji of a 🐶 chasing its tail]
🙌 Go to a bookshop
👊 Pick up craft tea/coffee/candy from the indie shop
😵‍💫 Stop by the local candle maker
🥵 Find a silly card at the collective we love
☠️ Visit a paper goods shop for cute packaging
🤬 F**c... forgot about x, y, z

It took DAYS to make the perfect gift.

And we knew we couldn’t be the only ones.

*(We are Yulia & Neal… well, mostly Yulia. Neal got lured in later and somehow stayed for all of it 😂 )

In late 2023, I bought the domain YouShouldReadBox.com to the puzzled look on everyone’s face and said: this is going to be a thing.

A place for book lovers, international gifters, self-improvement seekers, mindful humans, craft goodie enthusiasts, frustrated partner of a bookish person, ____

What if losing your sense of direction became the very thing that led you back to yourself? 🌸

Join us for an intimate Author Chat & Book Reading with Mia Bolton (), author of the award-winning book "As We Bloom: Wisdom from Extraordinary Everyday Women and Gender Nonconforming People."

After her own life unexpectedly unraveled, Mia embarked on a nearly 10,000-mile solo road trip across the country, interviewing people living courageous, unconventional, and deeply intentional lives – from an LGBTQIA+ auto mechanic in Seattle to women riding motorbikes through New Orleans trailing clouds of pink smoke.

Hosted at Moniker General, the evening will include a live reading, conversation, audience Q&A, and book signing.

📅 Thursday, May 28
🚪 Doors: 5:30 PM
✨ Event starts: 6:00 PM
📍 Moniker General
2860 Sims Road, San Diego, CA 92106

Join us this month as we explore it together…

🚨 May Book Club Details 🚨

This month, we are diving into 📖 The Other Side of Change: Who We Become When Life Makes Other Plans by Dr. Maya Shankar ()

Blending psychology, cognitive science, and powerful real-life stories, this book explores how we respond to unexpected change and how those moments can shape who we become.

Rather than asking how to avoid disruption, Maya Shankar invites us to consider a deeper question: how can we grow through it? From identity shifts to life’s unexpected detours, this is a compassionate and eye-opening look at resilience, reinvention, and the hidden opportunities inside uncertainty and change.

Pick up your copy and join us for a conversation that feels especially relevant in a world that’s changing faster than ever.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! 🤍

Yesterday’s was one for the books 📚✨

We are blown away by your support… the energy, the curiosity, the conversations, the love for books - it meant everything. Thank you for showing up for us and for indie bookstores around San Diego and beyond 📚🙌

Huge congratulations to our winner of GOLDEN TICKET 👀🎉

What a hunt! It took over 6 hours to be found among just 800 books on our shelves. We hid it inside one of our favorite memoirs 😉

Major respect to everyone who searched high and low. We were rooting for all of you. Safe to say, we learned our lesson about hiding it that well 😂 (first-timer problems)

A big thank you to for bringing the Golden Ticket magic to our shop and for supporting indie bookstores every single day 🤍

If you’re new to Libro.fm, it’s a Social Purpose audiobooks platform that supports indie shops ( a stark contrast to “you-know-who” 🤑) If you choose You Should Read as your bookstore, we get a share of profit when you listen — which means your audiobook habit actually gives back. And you get to actually OWN your purchased audiobooks forever. Pretty cool, right?

We are open 11-8 today, still riding the high from yesterday. So grateful for this community 🤍
