Day 1 Miami Boat Show

If you haven’t notice So Cal is having an exceptionally warm winter. SSTs locally have been around 60-63 which reminds be of the eras of when I didn’t have a 4/3 wetsuit to wear. Anyways… squid fishing was great this year, La Niña has felt the effects on the mountains, but not so much the ocean. What have you noticed? Lack of NW swell energy, mostly coming more westerly than normal. Warm water…. Smells like an El Niño is on the horizon? The models think so too…. Feels like a mild one so far 1.5 ish, but what makes the difference is how many months we stay above 1.0 to bring back that 2015 feeling (still remember 🥲)

Imaging this being your backyard…. Commercial continues to fish…. The US gets 3% of the Atlantic quota. It’s not about sustainable fisheries anymore, it’s who has money for lobbyists. Would you still rec fish?

Eddy currents on the east coast happen frequently because of the Gulf Stream. They are the dream condition you chase for Pelagics. Well well well, look who strolled into town…. We got one of our own this week and it’s setting up the local banks close to home over the next several days. Smaller bluefin have already pilled on it and have hung around. I expect to see them for the next several days and possibly up to a week as long as these conditions hold up. More details on our So Cal Fishing Forecast on YouTube.
