Last year this time I was preparing to attend with a lovely group of ladies. I learned so much and made some lasting connections. I realized I didn’t share these goodies that I came home with. These aren’t all by any means. We were so spoiled! Crafty get togethers are the best!

It’s finished, it’s finished, it’s really really finished! Oh man this quilt has so many memories sewn into it. The obvious ones go with the T-shirts from college that hold a special place in my heart. ❤️ The not so obvious memories come from actually making this quilt. Theses shirts traveled to multiple bases before I joined a little quilting group at a super old church in the English country side. I was the youngest member by a long ways and it was quite lovely every time we met. It was during an uncertain time in my life as we were about to move again and expecting our first child. Walking into each meeting was like a small family reunion without the drama. I was adopted by a group of moms, aunts and grandmothers with British accents and always with a cup of tea. They helped me cut, layout and were so encouraging. We even traveled to pick out the backing fabric in London. I will never forget their kindness, warmth and love. And I hope and pray that I can pass that on 💕 since then I’ve had kids and they are actually old enough to help me quilt this thing, so I’ve got some kid sized stitches gracing this quilt too. (Yes it has been a long time!) Now that it is done, they think it is a new twister board 🙈

Moral of this story....hang out with the older ladies!

As I put finish on this spoon and these cutting boards, I'm wondering about the kitchens they will live in, the delicious foods they will help prepare, the people who will use them and the memories that will be made around them. It makes my heart happy to imagine ❤

Finished and waiting to be attached to the base 🤩

Reposted from Another crokinole board done. Love how this .inc veneer turned out. The circle jig and interface kit made easy work cutting the grooves for the inlay.

Look at that burl grain pop 😍 crokinole board making is a bit of a process but the finish product is so worth it. The walnut burl on this board is a veneer. Basically burl is rare and expensive so we get thin cut sheets of it, custom cut the layout, and adhere it to another piece of wood. Love the way designed this board ( ) and the pop of the maple inlay.

1950s day for Red Ribbon Week at school. No 50's day would be complete without a Poodle 🐩 skirt and Unicorn Cat 🦄😻 skirt.

Traditionally these skirts were made from felted wool. I chose a poly poplin fabric due to cost (it's a costume for children, although they will probably wear it regularly now that I said that), we live in Texas and fall seems to be forgetting to show up, and this fabric has amazing drape and twirl factor. We skipped the petticoats.

Skirt is self drafted circle skirt. I made the waist circle a bit bigger to ease it in because it is woven and doesn't stretch. Fabric from
2 inch elastic
Trim and patches from (hand sewn, not glued)
