As Silencer popularity grows so does the demand for threading barrels. Having a good 30 caliber suppressor (or 5 or 6) that you can use on most of your other rifle calibers is a great idea.
But those skinnier barrels can’t take the 5/8x24 thread so what I’ll do is thread in something popular like 1/2x28 or 9/16x24 and install an adapter, of course ensuring we’re centered on the bore.

So that there’s not this weird square part on the end of your barrel, then I taper the thread adapter to your barrel. Lock it on, throw on a thread protector, and you’re good to go.
Someone can now suppress all of their rifles with 1 silencer using the same thread pitch.

Not anymore. Now it’s 16” with mag tube cut down to match. Still holds 8 rounds in the tube. You also have to cut two new dovetails.
Now even with the can on it, we’re a little shorter than where we started.
