Heat treat, temper, polishing, and bluing finished! Now for a classy handle and this bad boy’s ready to go!
This is a San-Mai (three layer) style with a CruForge-V core and ~400 of layer Thunderbolt pattern mosaic damascus sandwiching it in the outside. Blued in caustic salts. I’m really pleased with the range of greens and blues in the 15-N-20 layers. The higher nickel gives it more resistance to corrosion, giving the different light bands. CruForge-V layer came out nice and black for contrast. Also happy with how uniform the San mai is on either side of the blade, the Damascus pattern flowing down the bevel. Really proud of this piece.

Dragon scale pattern uses ball bearings which typically are made of a high carbon steel called 52-100. A great knife steel, but is susceptible to stress fractures of not worked at a really high temperature. You can see examples of the cracks near the spine in a blackened ball bearing. Could be surface cracks but I have a feeling they run deep, making this purdy, shiny paperweight. I’ll put a handle on it and see this guy out. So this one will be discounted if I have any takers. Thank you to Steven Moon for use of his chemicals and facilities for the blueing and finishing process.

An Oldie but a goodie, a little something I threw together last year. Simple but versatile black vambrace. Throw in a couple rows of studs, stich-groove border, and a few “racing stripes” for style. Warrior Double shoulder, black drum stained, water resistant finish, and lace holes reenforced with nickel eyelets.
