Here it is Snippet Sunday. Hope you enjoy this little teaser of Diamond Cuts and Deadly Sunsets.

“Do you feel better? You haven't said much."

"I'm not sure," Jewel replied. "It's like this place is pulling me in. I'm hearing and seeing things. What if it's not in my mind and someone is reaching out to me?"

"Like whom?" Krystal asked. "Please don't tell me it's the ghost lady in the dress." Feeling a little spooked, she pushed the door locks.

"I don't know. After we’re confident the truck is gone, we must find plot G, row number 21. There's a strong possibility the answers lie there.”

"Are you kidding me?" Krystal's high-pitched tone rang loudly through the car. “You mean like lie in a grave? “You want to go hiking through a graveyard, not to mention it will be dark soon, to find a gravesite to talk to a ghost? Does anybody here but me think it's a crazy idea?" she asked, waving her arms in the air. “A better plan would be to get out of this place that’s making you crazy, go home, have a drink, and forget this day." She paused and studied her friend. "But I’ve gathered by your determined expression, that isn't going to happen, is it?"

Sunday Snippet is back

Good evening FB friends and Family. Wishing you a blessed day. Several people have asked what happened to Sunday Snippet. This is where I share a little bit of my next book. I've been so busy doing life that my book writing has taken a back seat. I hope to have the book done this summer. Please enjoy this little tease from my next book, Diamond Cuts and Dangerous Sunset.
Note it's still in the rough draft phase.

Monday morning refreshed and ready to take on the day, Jewel dressed in her skinny jeans, ‘I love Kansas’ T-shirt, and blue tennis shoes. With two coffees down and shelf paper in her hand, she headed to the salon. The landscapers were starting at 7:00 AM, and she wanted to be there to greet them. Arriving before them was her plan just in case there were any surprises. She was praying and hoping there were none.
Luckily, it was a smooth morning. The landscapers were on board with her plans, and after sharing small talk with Gemma, she went to work covering the shelves. An hour into her task and covering the last shelf, a knock at the door pulled her away. The landscaping company's owner, Juan, stood with a large worn tin box in his hand. A rusty lock dangled from the side. "Ma’am, we found this in the yard," he said, handing her the box.
Jewel's heart raced at the sight of the box. Could it be Gemma's body, cremated, and her ashes were inside? Oh god, she hoped not. Reaching out with shaking hands, she accepted the box. "Thank you, Juan. I appreciate you bringing it to me." Closing the door, she immediately set the box on the counter.
Jewel folded her arms and walked around the box, never taking her eyes off the object.
"What's that?" Gemma asked, taking an interest.
"I don't know, but by the looks of it, I gather it's been buried for many years." Lifting the lock, she examined it thoroughly. She wasn't about to tell Gemma that it might be her ashes inside. She wondered if people were even cremated back then. If it wasn't her ashes, then what was inside?
"We should open it," Gemma exclaimed, her excitement accelerating her wing speed.

Happy Sunday, FB friends and Family. Wishing you a blessed day.
Time for Sunday Snippet. Please enjoy this little tease from my next book, Diamond Cuts and Dangerous Sunset.
Note still in the rough draft phase.

Shakin, by the sound of screeching tires and the sight of the taillights of a black truck, left her feeling vulnerable and angry. Hugging herself, she leaned against the door jam. This truck, coming onto her property and violating her personal space, isn’t acceptable. But what could be done about it? Get a guard dog, or scarier yet, sick Dan on him. Nervously laughing at the thought, Jewel slowly edged back inside. Before closing the door, she spotted a note taped to the porch banister. Feeling like an open target, a hunted prey in her brown jogging suit, she rushed over, grabbed the note, hurried inside, locked the door, and read the message made out of pasted-on cutout letters with trembling hands..

"Well, now that I know you ladies didn't witness anything, I'm going to call the police, hoping they can lift some prints."

"NO! Jewel screamed. Her outburst startled Vincent, causing him to spill his coffee on the table and down his pants. Realizing she needed to fix her overdramatic reaction, she took a deep breath, gave a sweet smile, handed him a wet napkin, and with her soft honey-brown eyes, turned on the charm. "Do you really want to get the police involved? They’ll come and tape off the area and deem it a crime scene. We won't be allowed in, and it will push back our opening date. They didn't steal anything, so there isn't a real threat, is there?"

Vincent stared at the half-dressed woman sitting across from him. Her smile and pleading eyes drew him in. His infatuated distracted brain wasn't concerned with the break-in anymore.

"Uh, did you hear me?" Jewel asked, waving her hands in front of his face.

Breaking the spell of control Jewel seemed to have on him, Vincent found his half-sensible brain again. "I guess we can let it go. But if anything, else happens, I will report it."

Hi all, well I'm back writing again. The characters who have been patiently waiting, are ready to come back out and play. Here is a little piece of my current project; Enjoy Snippet Sunday.

Jewel sat staring at her new place. It didn't arouse any home vibes yet. Right now, it was somewhere for Charlie and her to settle and a place to store her belongings. Hoping that in time it would feel like home.

Sensing Jewel's insecurity, Krystal reached over and hugged her. "It's going to be ok. You'll feel better once you're settled in and get acquainted with the area."

"Yeah!" Jewel said with a heavy sigh. Stepping out of the car, she blew a kiss, and waved goodbye. Walking up to the house, she inhaled deeply, taking in the fragrant scent of the lavender plant near the front door. The old house called out for her to touch it. Despite the chipped paint and loose boards from the years of wear and tear, it had survived the weathered storms. Some people could see it as a flaw, but, she thought, running her hand along the broken railing, it was scarring on the building. It had good bones and still standing strong and offering shelter to another occupant. Jewel related to this on a profound level. Nothing goes through life unscathed; there will always be troubled times that leave scars and try to tear me down. It's my choice to stand or fall and she planned on standing strong, just like this old house.

Sunday Snippets. Yes, there is going to be another book. Still playing with the name. I'm on chapter six, woohoo! Periodically, I'll share, and tempt you with a little taste of the story. My goal is to have you picture yourself here, see what she sees, and feel what she feels. Hope you enjoy a peek into Jewel's life. (not in any order)

Thirty minutes later, now parked at the office, Jewel stared in awe at the charming historic hotel. Enamored by the beauty of the cozy inn, she stepped out of the car to stretch and take in the peaceful surrounding. "I love it!" she exclaimed, rubbing her chilled arms, on her way to the office. A spouting fountain, its sparkling water illuminated by the glowing lights, captivated her attention. Walking over, she cast a penny along with a wish into the pool. Wondering as her eyes followed the journey of the coin falling into the cool water, would it join the hundreds of other hopeful unfilled dreams that lie waiting on the cemented bottom?

She felt terrible for the tired parents, sporting spaghetti stained sweatshirts, and wrestling with their twin toddlers to eat. The baby's high-pitched screams, piercing her ear-drums, were like fingers on a chalkboard. Jewel covered her ears and sent a silent prayer to the captive couple as she hurried by their table, so thankful her table was a few rows down.

A little snippet of my new book coming this Summer.
Still working on the name.

After getting out of the car, she walked into a field overlooking a vast valley. Raising her hands high in the air, she twirled around in the tall grass and yellow poppies. With her phone, she captured herself wrapped in the magic-like pink and orange hues of the sunset. She felt as though mother nature had dipped her paintbrush in a bowl of rainbow sherbet and splattered it gallantly in the sky. Finding a log nearby, she sat, letting the tranquil moment wash over her. She loved chasing sunsets. Nothing was more serene than witnessing the day taking its last breath and surrendering the world's duty to the nightfall.

Mesmerized by this daily ritual, she watched in wonder until the last sliver of the sun fell behind the mountain, changing the pastel colors of the mural in the sky, into hues of red, blue, and purple.
