We love a Waterwise garden and wanted to shout out some of our favorite Waterwise garden plants:

*You can find all these plants and more at our The Home Depot stores (please note, stock and variety may vary by location)

Orange Glow Delosperma loves hot, sunny spots. Its bright blooms keep going with very little water.

Columbine is surprisingly drought tolerant once established. Its unique blooms add color without demanding constant watering.

Tickseed is a tough perennial that thrives in sunny, dry gardens. It delivers months of cheerful color with less water.

Gaura handles heat and dry conditions with ease. Its delicate flowers bloom for months on minimal water.

Salvia is built for sunny, waterwise landscapes. It attracts pollinators while thriving in the heat.

Just a handful of some of our favorite water wise perennials.

Don’t forget to water deeply the first year while they are establishing, but all of these plants are ideal for high altitude, high light, dry environments.

Don’t forget to cover your soil with mulch or plant intensely to retain moisture and help dispel heat.

Utah was made for growing peonies. 😍

And if you live here, you know how lucky we are to have them in this desert.

If you are having problems with them not blooming, make sure to check that you didn’t plant them deeper than your original potted plant.

Mine are all locally grown by for and stores.

In this reel, I am showing Sarah Bernhard and Alexander Flemming but I also grow Duchess De Nemours, Paula Faye and a few other varieties.

Peonies are one of the few plants where I will pay more for a more established plant.

They can take 3 to 4 years before they start producing like this.

And the good news is, I saw them shipping to stores this week so keep an eye out for them!

Exclusive only to this year is the tomato called Sweet 150.

It is a prerelease at Home Depot, like the Sweet 100, which is a cherry tomato, but these are big cherry tomatoes and they are very sugary, great in salads and all sorts of things.

They are probably an inch in diameter and they are great tasting, too.

They are bred to put on an awful lot of tomatoes throughout the growing season.

You can plant tomatoes as long as the temperature is above freezing, but 50 degrees is the safe bet for when they are forming fruit.

That will not be happening for a few weeks, and the forecast is above 50 anyway, so now is the perfect time to get tomatoes into the ground.

A lot of people are concerned that maybe they should protect them from the heat, but tomatoes love heat.

They might need a little more water to get established in the next week or so, but not a ton more water.

Just keep an eye on them.

Now is the perfect time to get your vegetable garden in, especially tomatoes.
