It’s almost Midsommar weekend 💐

To celebrate the longest day of the year, Swedish families and communities gather with food, song and dance. As is Swedish tradition, celebrations include raising a maypole and dancing around it— followed by sweets and snaps!

This Saturday, June 6, is Sweden’s Nationaldagen (“National Day”), which marks the birth of the modern Swedish state in 1523 upon the election of Gustav Vasa as King in addition to the adoption of Sweden’s modern constitution on the same day in 1809.

Swedish flags, music and tradition abound at the palace in Stockholm and all over the country.

For those of us here at Swedish Kontur, it’s also a fitting day to remember and honor our late co-owner and Swedish immigrant himself, Anders Björling, who passed on the same day in 2022.

With so many wonderful lives and Swedish traditions to celebrate, we invite you to proudly fly a Swedish flag with us this weekend 🇸🇪
