Laughing and learning together. We had a wonderful evening together eating wild rice soup and learning from Tammy Villegas about the fish at Como Lake. We connected with the plants and water and had the best time!

Blue Hummingbird Woman and I welcome everyone out for a day of learning about Dakota plants in our Four Winds Garden at Battle Creek Park, this Saturday!

During Wozupi Wi (Planting Moon), we'll gather to learn about the Dakota teachings of the Three Sisters, plant together, and reset our bean lodges for the growing season.

Last year, we worked to transform an old abandoned playground into a garden for our Native plant relatives. Since then, we've watched plant relatives, pollinators, mice, frogs, deer and even an owl return. It's been beautiful to witness how quickly life comes back when we care for the land in a good way.

Join us for another year of workshops & plant teachings.

Elder Tammy Villegas will give us a fish eye view on what they are doing, who they are hanging out with and who they are trying to stay away from! We will also look at their habitat and see what we can do to help them flourish. We will journal our findings and have a seasonal chart of what to look for in our underwater relatives. Of course, we will have time to do some fishing too.

Thursday May 21st
5pm-7pm

These workshops and plant walks are in partnership with Capitol Region Watershed District and Blue Hummingbird Woman.

Free and open to the public.
Please register for the event through the Eventbrite link below.
