🎻 Welcome to the House of Note team, Anna Tessman!

Anna’s love for the violin started at a young age after being inspired by a Baby Mozart video, and that early spark grew into a lifelong passion. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from DePauw University and is now back in Minneapolis, where she teaches locally and performs with the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra.

Pictured with her 2019 Michael Lochner violin, purchased from House of Note, Anna is a wonderful addition to our team. We’re happy to have her at House of Note—be sure to say hello the next time you stop by! 🎻

🎶⏰ Two weeks from today, we kick off our 77th Season and trust us, it’s going to be a pops-itively unforgettable summer! 🌞🎻 🎺 🥁 🪈

We’ve got incredible professional music, beautiful lakeside evenings, and plenty of reasons to leave the couch behind.

✅ Picnic blanket? Check.
✅ Snacks? Check.
✅ A friend? Check. (Yes, your fur baby absolutely counts. 🐶)

Concerts begin June 27 and are usually Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 5:30 PM through the end of July at the Lake Harriet Bandshell. Mark your calendars now!

🇺🇸 A quick holiday note: Our Independence Day Celebration will be held on Friday, July 3 at 7:30pm, not July 4. The park will be closed for the holiday, so be sure to celebrate with us a day early!

Pack your picnic basket, grab your favorite concert buddy (two-legged or four-legged), and meet us at the lake for another season of music under the sky. We can’t wait to see you there! 🎵✨

Huge kudos and congratulations to Minneapolis’s very own Sophia Alexander for her incredible performance at the 2026 YPSCA Concerto Competition! 🎻✨

Sophia, a senior at The Blake School, stood out as one of only twelve finalists - and ultimately captured Second Place on March 1st, in a very tight final competition! Sophia absolutely mesmerized both the judges and the audience with an exquisite and powerful interpretation of the second movement of Prokofiev’s Sinfonia Concertante—one of the more demanding pieces in the cello repertoire.

Sophia's hard work and artistry earned her the $1,500 Edwin Norberg Award and the $750 House of Note Violin Shop Award. We are so incredibly proud of your dedication and this well-deserved achievement, Sophia!

A massive thank-you and shout-out also go out to Sophia's fabulous and dedicated teacher, Mina Fisher, always delivering her guidance and encouragement with a smile; and to the wonderful Kerri Lejeune, who served as Sophia’s brilliant collaborator throughout the competition.

Brava, Sophia! We can’t wait to see where your musical journey takes you next. 🌟👏
