Karen Storkamp, their message resonates with me.
Last week marked our business anniversary--the end of our FOURTH year in business! We say this every year but we’ll say it again: the thing about Korppi that we are most proud of is the community that has blossomed around us. We always envisioned Korppi being a community hub but it takes two to tango — we couldn’t do what we do, or be what we are, without you all.
In this day and age of social media, it can feel like we are expected to hold the entire weight of humanity in our hands. With our world and our country the way that it is, that is simply too much for any individual heart to handle. As said, “Bringing it back to the scale of your own life is the medicine for recovering from this massive, dominating, colonizing worldview…coming back to the scale of being a human in community.” It’s these smaller communities that we intentionally build and foster that give us the strength to face the big problems out there. It’s seeing and validating each other, knowing each other's faces, caring about each other's struggles, and even just acknowledging that it is a hard time to be a human in the world right now.
Thank you for being the faces that we see every day and the community that gives us the strength to keep working towards a better country and a better world. We love and appreciate you all.
