We made it through the worst retail months, and sunshine is on the horizon!

We want to take a moment to reach those folks who don’t, for whatever reason, visit their downtown to eat, shop, stroll, or enjoy what the makers are making.

If you walk into a business & say, “I didn’t know you were here. How long have you been open?” And, the answer is 2+ years, then you’re missing out on so many places that you might truly love.

Just take a stroll through your downtown, pop into some places, and then tell one friend about your favorite stop.

A Bittersweet Goodbye from Schweetz Candy Co -
It's with heavy hearts that we announce Schweetz Candy Co. is closing our doors, effective immediately.
When we opened in December 2022, our dream was to create a nostalgic, sweet experience for our community and visitors alike. We wanted to transport you back to the 90s - from the music and decor to the classic candies that defined our childhoods. While we've loved every moment of serving you and sharing that throwback experience, low sales have made it impossible to continue.
To our dedicated customers who championed us and supported small business in Downtown St. Joseph - thank you from the bottom of our hearts. To those who were traveling through and stopped in to share a moment with us - we're grateful you chose us.

I will be posting some items for sale in a separate thread. If you were eyeing that Empire Records framed poster, stay tuned!

This closure is a reminder of how fragile small, locally-owned businesses truly are. We're losing these unique spaces one by one, and once they're gone, they're gone for good.
Our downtown has so much to offer, but many don't even know what's here. We encourage everyone to explore, discover, and most importantly - support the small businesses that make our community special. They need you now more than ever.

On the last WARM Saturday before Christmas (December 20th), bring the family to downtown St. Joseph for free pictures with Santa Claus, a petting zoo, and watch as our very own Pony Express Rider takes off with all your letters to the north pole. Be sure to take a free carriage ride and enjoy our outdoor Christmas village with pop-up shops, including vendors inside the concession building. Plus, downtown stores and restaurants are offering special promos and festive deals all day long.
