Bring on the yarn-y summer vibes!
Keep calm and crochet / knit in the AC!

We just received some New Cotton yarn - yarn for socks- 7 colors - 58% cotton and 38% Polyamide and 4% PBT and recycled cotton for dish cloths - 9 colors - 85% cotton and 15% Polyester.

Malabrigo Day 2026 is October 24, 2026. Please add the date to your calendar. More information to follow about the upcoming event.

Malabrigo Yarn will introduce their new colors for the fall and a couple new blends in Sport weight.

We are pleased to be able to introduce a couple of their new yarn weights, Brisa and Torzal, that are designed to showcase their classic colorways from a fresh new perspective. A 2 ply DK/Sport weight in superwash merino. We are planning on having a few of these new colors and weights in September.

The Great Northern Yarn Haul 2026 was a lot of fun. It was wonderful to meet all the new customers and to work with our current customers who always make our day. Thanks to everyone who participated. The winner of the Yarn Banks drawing from all that signed in at the store was Durella. We will contact her this week to let her know.

Discover St J Final Friday continues August 28th. We offer pom-pom making, button spinners, and crocheted bracelets. Dale Crocker will hold an amazing spinning demonstration. We look forward to the last Discover St J Final Friday on August 28th.

Store Sample Raffle to support the St Johnsbury Food Banks

Thanks to all those that bought tickets on the Final Friday in July we were able to donate $36.00 to the Kingdom Kitchen North Church. The winner for the July Raffle was Kayla. We have contacted her. The final raffle will be held in August and the lucky winner will be notified on September 2nd. Wouldn’t you love to win a project made by one of your Yarn Bank Friends?

Hat Donations:

The Yarn Bank is collecting knitted and crocheted warm winter hats, in both adult and child sizes, to benefit the hungry and homeless. These items will be distributed to those in need via St J Food Shelves and meal sites. If you have any questions, please contact Edith at The Yarn Bank by calling 802-748-2265.

Spinning Class ($35)

We’re excited to offer Dale’s final Drop Spindle class for the year September 5th from 4PM to 6 PM. We are grateful for all those that signed up for the class in the past. For those that signed up, a reminder the August class will be held from 4pm to 6pm on Saturday the 8th of August.

We are pleased to announce the arrival of our new cotton yarn collection from King Cole, featuring 7 vibrant colors for sock production, comprising 58% cotton, 38% Polyamide, and 4% PBT. Additionally, our dish cloth yarn is available in 9 colors, boasting a composition of 85% cotton and 15% Polyester. To showcase the quality of these yarns, there is a sample bag made from the dish cloth cotton and a sock on display. The yarn is so soft.

The Yarn Bank will be open on Saturday, July 4th from 10 am to 2 pm!

The Great Northern Yarn Haul 2026 is returning for the month of July. There are 26 stores in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine participating. Start at The Yarn Bank to get a passport and the 11th Annual GNYH bag, available with purchases of $20.00 or you can purchase the bag for $10.00. And, choose a small gift with each purchase over $30.

Lykke Swifts are now available at the store. We continue to have your favorite yarn and accessories as well as new colors.

Discover St J Final Friday on June 26th was a great success. We offered pom-pom making, button spinners, and crocheted bracelets. (To the young man who asked for a blue bracelet, it is at the store for you.) Dale Crocker gave spinning demonstrations that were fun to watch.
We look forward to the next Discover St J Final Fridays on July 31st and August 28th. Raffles to support the St Johnsbury Food Banks We have a winner for the first Raffle drawn on June 26th! The winner for the Last Friday of the Month Raffle for July was Michelle # 6450651. Raffles will continue to be held on the Final Friday in July, and August. The Yarn Bank will sell tickets to win your choice of one of our R-marked store samples. It may be a hat, cowl, shawl, or sweater! Tickets are 6 for $5 or 1 for $1 (cash only, please) or you can give a donation to the Food Bank of your choice. We will be giving the funds from the raffle to the following food banks here in St Johnsbury – Kingdom Kitchen at North Church, Mustard Soup Kitchen on Eastern Avenue, and NECKA. Stop in and check out the samples that will be available during the Raffle.
New Spinning Class We’re excited to offer a second Drop Spindle class with Dale Crocker. Sign up for the August 8th Drop spindle class – there are still openings. The class will be held from 4pm to 6pm. There are drop spindles and fiber available for purchase. The class fee is $35.00.
