Special Weapons, Inc. would like to send our deepest condolences to the victims, their families and anyone effected by the tragedy in Newtown, CT. Although we firmly believe in a citizens right to bear arms, we also are committed to the gun owners responsibility of Care, Custody and Control of any firearm they own. We also believe that all gun sales (private and professional) should be held to the same FFL background check standards. We may never know exactly why this tragedy happened, but it did, and changes need to be made to keep our children, husbands, wives, brothers and sisters safe. Before 9/11, people thought airplanes were safe, that America could not be the victim of terrorism, despite the attack on Pearl Harbor, but we were naive and unprepared. As a result of this tragedy, increased screening in airports, no-fly lists, and armed air marshals on flights were implemented. Because of the bombing in Oklahoma City, all State and Federal buildings have metal detectors and armed personnel waiting as you enter the building, security checks for employees are mandatory. We have military trained veterans who are willing to stand guard at schools to protect our children, why not utilize their training? We have programs available to teach children how to keep themselves safe from bullying at school and and abuse in their own homes, why do we not provide them with training to keep themselves safe from other random acts of violence in their schools? Is this knowledge any less important than knowing what to do and where to go in case of a fire? As we are learning almost on a weekly basis, those individuals that for whatever reason wish to carry out these horrible acts with a gun, or a knife (as we saw recently in China), or other object capable of inflicting serious damage or death will find a way to do so, whether it be in a school that had a security system in place that provided that people needed to be buzzed into the school after a certain time, a movie theater, a mall, a church, or even a private residence. We do not claim to have the perfect answer, but we believe that it getting psychiatric help for everyone should be at least as easy as it currently is to get a gun. As with the law of physics, a perpetrator will follow the path of least resistance and will attack those he/she finds the most unsuspecting and vulnerable. America is not a "safe" place, and we as citizens need to realize that and take the precautions necessary to keep our families as safe as possible. Special Weapons, Inc. does not sell guns, only tactical accessories, non-lethal personal protection items and apparel generally to local police and emergency responders and we investigate and follow State and Federal guidelines before shipping any item to any customer. Rest In Peace Little Angels and those adult hero's that gave their lives trying to protect them. We will never forget!
