What does the color red make you think of? I’ve seen it associated with anger a lot, but it makes me think more of passion in all its forms. What are you passionate about?
I tried to come up with my own story to tell with this first huevember piece, but I settled on adjusting a few details of a reference. You can swipe to see my mini reference board.
I also got a bit tired of trying to render this because I want to get a bit further along in huevember art pieces and not spend too much time waffling over the minor details. I like it as it is.

My brain is mush and I’m not 100% sure why but it probably has something to do with the mixture of parenting and being stuck in stress limbo about household things. I recently updated my Artstation portfolio and I decided to share them here too because every time I open a sketchbook or drawing app my brain empties of all information.

It’s time! I’ve literally never tried to participate in huevember but there’s no time like the present. I decided to make my own outline for the month instead of following someone else’s prompt so I can cater it to what I need. I took into consideration a lot of the things I learned during and I hope that will set me up for “success”
I’d be absolutely thrilled if anyone joined me. I tried to think of a CLEVER hashtag but we’re just gonna use ok? Ok. The only rule is there are no rules.

day 8 - mask and t.v. I love vintage TVs. They're so round. I've noodled around a lot of ideas for prompts from different lists for the past few days but I'm happy with where I landed. I painted this on stream today. Big thank you to for the raid and to all the lovely friends for coming to say hi after I've been away for so long. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna try and find somewhere to stream The Mask.

Day 3 - Hole via .illustrations
I had a really hard time figuring out what to draw for this prompt and trying to combine it with other lists only made it HARDER. I took my own reference photos to study how to draw holes. My brain was just not cooperating. So when I finally thought “hey, a keyhole is a hole.” I just ran with it.
I could have skipped today, but I actually really enjoy making art daily and having prompts helps give me direction.
NOT TO MENTION I’ve been super frustrated feeling like I couldn’t paint original ideas from my imagination the same way I paint reference photo studies. So this really felt like a win.
Finally, I almost exclusively used my own custom brushes. And not just brushes that were edited from the default brushes. I actually made them from scratch.
I feel like a glowing keyhole is an overplayed and boring subject, but I’m super happy with the ex*****on.

My first day of did not exactly go off with a bang 😅 I didn’t get as much studying done during the day of the elements of my planned painting and my iPad battery was low when I finally started painting. But one of my goals for this month is to give myself grace and be proud of what I do accomplish.
For Day 1, I combined the prompt for (Journey by ) and the prompt for with (starlight) to come up with this little witch ready to embark on, well, a journey guided by starlight. Where do you think she’s going?

Finally finished the hosted by and using my custom brush. It was interesting trying to take this one section at a time since there were a few different elements. A lot of times multiple elements in one painting can be overwhelming for me and I have a hard time switching from working on the painting as a whole and working on one element. This was good practice.

with and I just realized reels don’t show up under the tag which is kinda 👀 why would IG do that? Anyway, the process timelapse is also posted if you want to see that 😊 I did this digitally because it’s a lot easier to make art while parenting on an iPad I can carry around the house. I also customized a brush and I’m excited to get in the groove of using it.

Antique perfume bottles are so pretty. I love the way light plays with the glass. I'm still doing photo studies to get used to oil painting. Why oil painting? Idk. Maybe because it helps me get in the habit of being more intentional with my color choices? Maybe just because it intrigues me. Art doesn't need a reason. Do you make art just because you want to?

So I had these 4 panels lying around from a million years ago and I decided after the first blueberry painting to make all 4 blueberry paintings in the same style. These might be the first art of my own that I frame.and put on the walls. First art ever, as I've never framed anything. Do you put art on your walls?

I'm working on my 3rd blueberry painting now. It's been both fun and terrifying to paint the blueberries and then cover everything with a transparent wash and go over it with oil pastel. A big exercise in trusting the process because I really like the way it makes the blueberries pop.
