Finally got to making a test print of the flounder linocut that I finished carving last week. I am using the blue-black relief printing ink from Ironbridge Fine Arts, though I am probably going to end up mixing some sepia into that for the actual edition. For test printing, the paper is a basic Strathmore printmaking pad paper in 120 gms. This paper is bright white and somewhat hard, so it shows detail well, but it does require more ink and pressure than the Rives lightweight I will use for the edition. This test print looks pretty good! I will also test it on the edition paper to get the ink density and pressure dialed in. Plus testing several other specialty papers to choose one for the second half of what will be a variable edition of 100 prints (50 on Rives paper, 50 on something else).

Last major carving seasion on the geometric flounder linocut. I will be back in the studio in a few days to take a test print and make refinements. Hopefullly, I will be testing papers@by the end of the week!

Who likes shrimp? I like shrimp. All of these shrimp prints are available at the Arts of the Green Art Show this weekend at Maples Park in Crestwood, KY. The shrimp dish series features four different iconic shrimp recipes. Perfect for a kitchen or maybe a restaurant. And this series of multi lock linocut printable not complete yet. The key block for ‘Shrimp Basket’ has been cut, and I will start on the color blocks next week. After that will be the last print in the series, ‘Low Country Boil’. All these prints are also available on my oldcityprintmakers.com website. All 100% handmade original print art. No gicleé from me!

Hound Yoga series… it has been almost 18 months since this project was completed. Over a dozen editions in this series. A few are close to selling out, especially ‘Hound Yogi’, ‘Dog & Butterfly’, ‘Hound & Butterfly’, and ‘Treeing Coonhound’. All of these prints will be available this weekend at the Arts on the Green / Maples Park event in Crestwood, KY. These reduction woodcut prints were@created to commemorate our beloved pet, Maggie, a Walker coonhound we adopted in 2019. She passed away in February 2025.

Maples Park in Crestwood, KY this weekend. Look at all the art in that booth shot! We have the entire Hound Yoga series, all the warblers, including my newest reduction linocut of a Black-and-white Warblers, a framed Painted Buntings, the entire geometric sea life series, including the new Blue Crab and two framed prints of ‘Dock Light Slam’, the entire Shrimp Dish series in two different match frame styles, all the wood cut butterflies, Floradillo and Armadillo Amarillo…
Too much to list! I don’t ship framed art, so shows like this weekend are the only way to buy them framed. I cut nice complimentary mats for each print too. And if you cannot come to the show, just about everything is available on the website… links on the images.
