Found a museum quality Petrified Log... no telling how long this sucker is.... started digging this hole a month ago and have about 10 ft exposed at this point!

Various Quartz, Calcite, Actinolite, and Epidote specimens.

Each specimen is a little different and all contain at least two of the aforementioned minerals.

I collect these specimens myself from the Calumet Iron Mine in Chaffe County, Colorado. Each matrix is initially covered in Calcite Cubes. I have to soak each specimen for hours in an Acidic Solution and then go through a meticulous cleaning process. However, I am very pleased with my end results. ;)

Because of the nature of the cleaning process, when i am at the mine collecting, I have no idea what my final specimens will look like... This makes collecting at this location extra fun, because it's like finding specimens within specimens! Almost like rockhounding twice..

I finished and sold this guy a while ago, but I wanted to share anyway. My friend John gifted me this carving of an old man done on a piece of wood, and I decided to overlay him with stones. I mined all the stones in Colorado except the Peridote and Madagascar Micro Quartz. He has Quartz Crystals, Peridote, Turquoise, Amazonite, Quartz with Chrysacolla and Malachite, Epidote, and Madagascar Miceo Quartz Crystals.

I'm really proud of this guy and selling him sure was a blessing to my family. Have a great and safe weekend everyone!

Happy Sunday Everyone and Merry Christmas as well as a happy holiday to all! I am not only grateful, but feel incredibly lucky when I reflect on this year and the life experiences that have led me here. I am really grateful to spend my life around the beautiful people, places, and amazing artworks I do.

This piece is a really wonderful Shark carved from China Berry Wood, fixed atop hand dug Sandstone frome North Dakota. The Sandstone is decorated with Manacaran Grape Agates from Indonesia, Red Coral from the Mediterranean Sea, Coral from Kuwaii, and a beautiful Bladed Quartz. The Red Coral is now highly illegal to collect making it Incredibly Rare and is often faked in China. The way to tell what is real is by the inner growth of the coral, sort of like the rings on a Tree. Each individual piece of Red Coral in this piece has at least a $50 value. Upwards of 10 pieces of red coral on this beautiful piece.
