The fee for the class is $175, and includes use of a spinning wheel, fiber, and a drop spindle to take home. Classes will be held on Saturday, October 31st, and Sunday, November 8th, from 1:30-4:30 PM. Preregistration is required; register at greenmountainfibers.com. There is a minimum of 2 participants, and a maximum 6. Please note, we offer this class just twice per year, once in the fall and once in the spring. We are very excited to welcome Catrina MacKenzie, who comes highly recommended, to the shop for a couple of Tunisian crochet workshops this fall. The first workshop, on Saturday, September 19th, from 12:30-3:30 PM, is an introduction to straight Tunisian crochet. Participants will first learn how to create a foundation row for the Mid-Coast Neckerchief, learn two Tunisian crochet stitches (Tunisian simple stitch, and Tunisian full stitch), as well as learning how to increase, decrease, and cast-off in Tunisian crochet. Participants will need to know how to create a chain, but no other prior knowledge of crochet is required. Working with two colors makes it easier to learn Tunisian crochet and results in a woven-look ‘right’ side and a striped ‘wrong’ side. Because knitters often pick up Tunisian crochet as quickly as those who crochet, we encourage fiber artists of all kinds to register. The fee for the class is $60 and will include the pattern. Participants will need at least 70 yards of DK weight yarn in each of 2 contrasting colors, a 6 mm Tunisian crochet hook, and a crochet stitch marker (opening safety pin type). Preregistration is required. Please note, this class requires a minimum of 2 participants to run, so consider registering with a friend; there is a maximum of 8 participants. Register at: greenmountainfibers.

Catrina MacKenzie designs Tunisian, Celtic, and Standard Crochet accessories, including shawls, cowls, and her favorite, fingerless mitts. Her patterns and eBooks are available on Ravelry. Combining colors and developing color work patterns is her passion, specially creating reversible, no-float designs using Tunisian crochet in-the-round. Many of her designs are inspired by the Scottish Highlands, and she has been designing for Outlander fan groups on Facebook for the last five years.
