Feeling incredibly grateful to receive support from CERF+ to make my workshop safer and more sustainable.
With their grant, I’m installing a new dust collector (Grizzly G0944 – 1.5HP Wall-Mount with a canister filter). I was lucky enough to find a new unit for half the price, $300 instead of $600 because it had been damaged during shipping. After a quick fix, it’s as good as new. This upgrade will drastically improve air quality and help prevent fire hazards in my workspace.
I’m also in the middle of a full clean-out. It’s definitely a balancing act while still trying to keep work moving, but step by step it’s becoming a much safer place to create. You can see a casket base in one of the pictures, with which will weave a willow casket. Shaping these bases creates a lot of dust so this collection system should be a major upgrade.
Next step will be installing all of the ducting to strategic areas throughout the workshop.
After that, I'll be upgrading my electrical installation.
If you’re an artist, I encourage you to think about emergency preparedness and the safeguards that keep your creative practice protected. CERF+ does so much more than provide grants, they offer education, advocacy, and a strong community focused on helping artists build resilient careers.
Huge thanks to for supporting studio artists like me.
