Stoked to get out with Corey and Steph, whom most of you know through SLY FOX BEER, to tick off their last section of the in PA! We couldn't have asked for better hiking weather! A chilly 39° at night made for perfect sleeping weather, day break brought sunny blue skies with the highs around 72° with a light breeze blowing through the trees just enough to keep the bugs at bay! Saw a bunch of hard chargin thru-hiker aiming for the halfway point which is just north of Pine Grove Furnace. Talked to one hiker who said Maryland was rockier than PA 🤣😂(if you're not familiar with the terrain down there, it's not insanely rocky like the northeastern part of PA that all Keystonians know is where boots go to die)...didn't have to heart to tell him of the tumultuous ridgeline he was about to literally stumble upon for the next 2 weeks, sorry my braddah it's a right of passage. The native laurels were in full bloom, the ferns carpeted the forest floor like a 70's s**g rug, the babbling of the brooks kept the time, while the sun kissed its highlights through the dense canopy, glistening off the vibrantly diverse shades of greens that would make the Pantone color wheel creators scratch their heads. The Hemlocks, the Oaks - so may Oaks, the Tulips, the Maples, the Pines, the Sassafras, the Rhodies, the Laurels, the Birch, and I swear I even saw a Chestnut! Simply put, the natural landscape of the Keystone State is absolutely astonishing!

GONE HIKING!

Aloha to our outdoor ohana,

Just wanted to communicate to keep you all in the know.

Saturday, May 30th - Shop closing at 4pm.

Sunday, May 31st - I apologize, but the shop will closed. I will be joining my best friend Corey is Rad, as he backpacks his last section of the Appalachian Trail in PA! We’ll be on the lower section in Michaux State Forest heading south into Maryland! Been a couple since I’ve been down there, stoked to reconnect with nature in the wonders of the Keystone State! Be back normal hours on Wednesday the 3rd.

Need to send a huge mahalo nunui to all those who have been the driving force behind the scenes in fighting the data center fight for our amazing veterans at the Southeastern Veteran's Center, all our neighbors living in East Vincent, Spring City, and Royersford area, along with the vast flora and fauna that call East Vincent home!

There are way too many amazing people to mention that deserve recognition, including you! Though I would like to highlight a few that I know specifically went way-way above and beyond their normal life roles (and are still going like the Energizer bunny) to allow us, the local community, to breathe a literal breath of fresh air after last nights decision. Aloha nui Senator Katie Muth, Christine McNeil, and Dana Ciaffone; you should stand tall with confidence in knowing you played a huge roll in getting people like myself involved and thwarting this modern day atrocity! Though the road is still unpaved and uphill both ways, this is a huge accomplishment whence we came!

Last couple weeks got me seriously feelin like I could write a top ten country song...I'd tell ya how my truck wouldn't pass cars or a yearly inspection, then go on to mention how at the start of full gangsta tick season, my lawnmower and weedwacker decided to go on strike, only to have Rex the wonder dog pull a Marley and Me and need emergency surgery (thankfully with a much more positive ending), followed up by a house full of sick that was passed around like a game of hot potato, metamorphizing into a kid with pneumonia and a small business owner's immune system being chopped down like the ash tree that fell on the neighbors shed.

So yeah, unfortunately I will be closed today as I go to the home remedy/recording studio in hopes of getting some rhythm back to support the immune system to be back on stage for the weekend. And it's lookin to be one of the first of many beautiful weekends to ROCKOUTside here in the Keystone State.

Well luckily, before I pulled off the worst blunder of my amateur video editing career, I was able to save a couple stills from the video. Yep, I accidently deleted the Insta360 video from when Michael, the owner of Mocean Kayaks and Canoes, came to visit us on Friday. He drove all the way from Washington state to meet some customers and deliver our stock of Scouts and the new award winning 12' Ace. He just so happened to bring along a demo of the beautiful new 14' Ranger (be here in June) for us to test paddle. Let me just say this...the responsiveness and paddling performance of this boat is nothing short of dreamy. Recognizing from the first paddle stroke, the Ranger's buttery smooth glide; discovering the confidence found in it's unbelievable edging capabilities was astonishing; and of course its rockered hull got me so stoked when I found how effortlessly it surfed the heavier river flow. In addition to the performance, the outfitting is thoroughly and thoughtfully delivered. Take for example the screw on day-hatch allowing for easy accessibility while on the water, and let's not look past the precisely placed locking skeg insert with it's focus on function, adaptability, and maintenance. And oh man that crisscross deck rigging, draped across those ginormous hatches, is just asking to be loaded up with all your gear for the adventure of a lifetime! Mahalo nunui my Washingtonian kayak building friends, ya all done us paddling folk a solid on this one! Aloha

Don't worry we got some sweet drone footage from our good friends at Virtual Farm Creative that will be available in the near future!
