Love the sun right now …

The sun shining on your equipment could have tricked the freeze guard into believing it's warmer than the actual temperature. Go check on it now before dark. It should still be running .

Behold our pool. Power running continuously. We would love to see your pool!

KEEP YOUR POOL PROTECTED DURING THIS FREEZING WEATHER.

KEEP THE POOL RUNNING 24/7.

Most systems have a freeze guard which will automatically trigger the pump when the temp hits below 36-40 degrees. If your system is not equipped with a freeze guard or its not working you will need to remove the timer trippers and turn on all the pumps so they stay on 24/7.

Next, make sure the pool water is HALFWAY UP the tile line. Keep the pool full of water and have a hose in the house that is not frozen in case you need to use it to add water. The water level evaporates at a higher rate when you have the pump running 24/7.

If you think you will lose power, here's a suggestion to protect your pool...

1. Shut off the power to your equipment from the circuit breaker or master power switch located by the equipment.

2. Remove all drain plugs and drain the water from the pumps. Then remove the clear lid on top and place it over the pump basket, but don't lock it down. Store all the plugs inside the basket.

3. Open your air bleed valve at the top of the filter and remove the drain plug at the base.

4. *If Equipped* Remove the drain plug from the heater near where the plumbing goes into the heater. Some heaters have a drain plug on the rear header located on the opposite side of the heater as well.
