Don’t have a place to stay, you are welcome to camp out with us on the land in Schulenburg. We also have extra beds, so feel free to stay here while you shop during the day.

While you are there, make sure to visit my friend Suzanne Coppola, founder of (Laurier Blanc) , at her space in The Compound. She has beautiful items and is a wonderful person.

Hi everyone,

I am honored to have connected with Britta Hesla, the Director of the Horse Plus Legislative Coalition. She has asked me to participate in upcoming meetings with Texas government officials to work toward land-locking the state to stop the transport of horses to Mexico.

This initiative addresses the inhumane treatment of these animals, as well as significant public safety concerns—including human trafficking , drug smuggling and spread of human diseases that often accompany these live transports. Our first meeting is scheduled for late March with Representative Carl H. Tepper of District 84.

I am reaching out to see if anyone in my network has connections to other Texas state government officials, including Governor Greg Abbott. I would appreciate any introductions that would allow me to discuss the reality of what is happening to U.S. equines traveling through Texas and the broader safety issues involved in this industry.

We were invited to The Arbors Round Top in Round Top, Texas, this morning to share the story of Jackie’s Place Rescue/Sanctuary and discuss how we can help US horses shipping to slaughter. We brought Jackie the racehorse along, and she had a wonderful time making new friends!

Okay, Roundtop Antiques Market has officially kicked off and the hubs and I are going absolutely wild, having the time of our lives. I’ve been on the hunt for stuff that catches my eye and would be super useful for summer fashion, and I’ll be posting some interior decorating goodies that I thought were total showstoppers. Check out these gorgeous Authentic Indigo African Mudcloth Tribal Handwoven Scarves - yes, they’re that awesome. I think they’re total multi-taskers: beach towel, hip wrap, or just a rad throw blanket. Just a heads up, give them a white vinegar bath before use to prevent any rogue dye, because nobody likes a tie-dye surprise on their designer duds. My husband and I founded Jackie’s Place Equine Rescue and Sanctuary in 2021 (bear with me I am collaborating with some pretty smart young people to finalize our social media platforms, coming soon). Since opening our gates to help equines being shipped to slaughter in Mexico and Canada, we have saved approximately 70 animals from a tragic fate. In addition to our rescue efforts, we have also taken in several owner surrenders.

Then and now. This is what rescue truly looks like. The equine arrives to us in utter despair, having been shuffled through auctions and passed from person to person countless times, all for the selfish gain of those who exploit them. But then divine intervention steps in, and the horses find their way to us. Through our dedication and the kindness of generous supporters, we liberate them from their dire circumstances and bring them to lush pastures where they can run free, soak up the sunshine, and heal from the trauma they endured. This is Mike Tyson, then and now. What a difference l❤️ve can make!

This crazy-long bench is up for grabs, rocking a sweet red coat with storage and a ‘circa I-have-no-idea-how-old-it-is’ vibe, but believe me, it’s in tip-top shape. I knew it was the one when I found it in the dark with my husband - and I didn’t even need a flashlight to see its potential. I hope it finds a home that’s ready to make a subtle statement and provide an element of utility with its full length storage under a one-piece lid. Oh, and don’t even think about trying to move it yourself - buyer pays shipping, and I swear by ‘Distinguished Transport’ - those guys are lifesavers, and you’ll need ‘em.

Welcome to Spring! My husband and I closed our laptops around noon yesterday and sped over to @ The B Haus Nursery & Marketplace, where our friends and her hubs Colton Bubela put their hearts into crafting an enchanting oasis that truly inspires. We delightedly explored the on-site shop and wandered through the picturesque nursery, soaking up the beauty. Our visit culminated in a bag full of treasures, leaving us feeling grateful for the warm hospitality. Thank you, Bubelas, for sharing your haven.
