Yesterday I had my quarterly Bank Advisory Board meeting… and for the first time, I catered the lunch myself too, which made it extra special. ❤️
They also gave us an allowance for branded clothing to represent the bank, so we got to pick out some things we liked. I even got a North Face coat with their logo on it and honestly felt pretty official. 😆
When I picked up the lunch from the kitchen, I jokingly asked the girls, “Do I look like a real businesswoman now?!”
They all laughed and said, “Well… aren’t you a real businesswoman?”
I raised my eyebrows, chuckled, looked right at Amy Sloat and said, “What do YOU think?” 😆
Her response:
“I think we are really great entrepreneurs… but I don’t know about that businesswoman part.”
And I immediately said, “Same girl. SAME.”
Because even after TEN years of starting and owning businesses… I still don’t feel like a successful businesswoman most days. I feel like an entrepreneur trying to figure this journey out as I go.
Maybe it’s imposter syndrome.
Maybe it’s because I’m always eager to learn and grow so I never feel like I’ve “made it.”
Or maybe it’s because entrepreneurship is MESSY… and in my head everyone else is organized, perfectly scheduled, calm, and running flawless businesses every day… while I’m over here juggling chaos half the time. 😅
I sit on that board with people much older than me — lawyers, executives, presidents of companies — and I still sometimes think:
“Why do they want ME here?”
But then I remind myself…
I’ve sat on that board for 4 years now.
They pay me to be there.
And maybe we just don’t see ourselves the way other people see us.
Imposter syndrome is real.
On another note… I know some people have been frustrated with recent bank mergers and changes. My bank, CBI Bank & Trust, has truly been incredible to me. They know you by name, there are no automated systems when you call, and they genuinely care about this community.
They believed in me and gave me the loan to buy Erica’s Board Creations home when bigger banks wouldn’t.
If you’re a small business owner looking to grow or expand but think financing isn’t possible for you… reach out to me. I’d be happy to connect you with people who truly care about helping small businesses succeed.
At Roscoe Nutrition, we trust CBI with all our banking needs. ❤️
