We just returned from a coffee date, and all we can say is WOW! 🤩

We’ve been waiting for Emari Roast Cafe in Troy to open. Well they did and we highly recommend a visit!

We had the Emari Latte with Emari spices, and a phenomenal Turkish coffee in the official Turkish cezve (or ibrik). The latte was a perfect blend of coffee and spice. The Turkish brew is the best coffee we’ve tasted and we’ve sampled coffee from cafes all over North America and Colombia. Truly amazing.

The environment is gorgeous, open, and welcoming. The addition of a Diedrich roaster (which we are fans of 😉) completes the immersive experience.

We purchased a bag of freshly roasted Colombian coffee for home use. We will try it out with all of our brew methods.

If you’re in the Troy MI area, don’t miss stopping in Emari Cafe if your palate prefers premium, organic, single origin coffee!

We were busy today! We roasted our famous Colombia 🇨🇴 Tolima! 😋 We are going to let it rest a bit, aiming to have it available on our website for ordering around the second week of March. Watch our socials for updates!

We also added another 40lbs of unroasted coffee to our bourbon barrel. We wish we could explain the aroma to you! 🤩 It is really that amazing. This alcohol free, smooth and amazingly delicious bourbon barrel-aged coffee is still a month or two out. We want to make sure it’s aged perfectly 😋🤩

We also roasted our last batch of espresso for another month. We will be focusing on Tolima now, returning to espresso sometime in April.

We’ve had so many customers ask us about Colombia Tolima. That will be next in the roaster, most likely early March. Currently we are only doing one coffee at a time, alternating between 586 Espresso and Tolima. There’s still some 586 available, so be sure to stop by our online store to order yours today. Once this batch is gone, it will be April time frame before we bring it back.

We’re back! 🥹

Our first roast in 7 months! Oh how we’ve missed it. We started with a new team, new coffee, and a new year and outlook on our business. Our first roast back was our famous 586 Espresso. It’s available in our online store now, but this first batch is very limited quantities. As we get back into this, we will be roasting twice a month and we will only make the coffee available after we roast, so no more wondering where your order is.

We will be focused on Espresso and Colombia Tolima only.

Thanks for your continued support, for the patience of those waiting to hear about past orders and our plans, and for your friendship.

Good morning!

To our long time followers-it’s our hope that you’ve found a suitable coffee to warm your morning cup! We miss all of you and wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

We’ve reset strategy for 5 Degrees North. More to come in 2026, but we will be offering small batches of freshly roasted coffee once again. We will only post once it’s available so we can better manage expectations. So if you see coffee in stock on our webpage, it means that coffee is already ready to ship. You will no longer have to wait like you did in the past.

This will be small batches only, using a once a month roasting schedule. We will no longer do any commercial accounts. We will also limit our product line to Colombia Tolima and Espresso. Coffee prices are drastically higher than they were even a year ago, so expect higher prices from us than what you’re accustomed to, but also expect the best tasting coffee around.

We will highlight our shipping and in store pickup options next year. Our in store hours will be limited and only pre-order pickup, but you can be confident that the coffee will be available.

We look forward to seeing a few of our friends again!

Hello friends! 5 Degrees North is exclusively roasting private, small batch coffee for the foreseeable future. As we’ve moved away from commercial and large scale roasting, we are selling our commercial equipment.

Included:
Diedrich IR-5 Roaster (pictured)
Mill City Weigh & Fill System (pictured)
Medical Grade Compressor
Heat Sealing Machine
Scale
Bunn 2lb Grinder

All equipment passes our MDARD and FDA inspections. Equipment is well-maintained and something we take pride in and sad to see it go. We are looking forward to seeing it go to a good home! We will offer complimentary training until the buyer is able to solo roast. We would be happy to partner with you!

We also have sections of double wall plenum chimney stack as required by the roaster.

Moving and installation costs shall be paid for by the buyer.

Bundle price is $35,650.

We are open to monthly, interest free payments for 5 years with a 10% down payment. We can apply discounts for early payoff within 3 years. If you operate a seasonal business, we are open to flex monthly payments, paying more in busy months, less in off season months.

To our valued clients:

After 8 years of building relationships, trust, and amazing coffee, we found ourselves in a very unfortunate situation that left us with zero green coffee to roast. This is the first time this has happened, causing us to miss important deliveries and to sacrifice the trust we’ve built so diligently over the years.

We aren’t sure what’s next. We know we are still interested in small batch roasting.

We are going to take a moment, look at the coffee world, and make some prayerful decisions. Many of our coffee friends have exited the business. We will look at all of our options, including partnerships.

To our valued clients-we are deeply sorry we left you in a bind. Please accept our sincere apologies.

Whether we exit or continue, we know we will be around to drink great coffee with current and past friends, while enjoying conversations about the good times.
