In March the plum trees are in full bloom! My children and I picked plum blossoms one afternoon to preserve their essence for times when the flowers have faded. I tried burying them in organic sugar and storing them in a dark cupboard. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed! The sugar has a light floral scent that carries your heart back to the joys of early spring! Unfortunately, I only made 1 pint of this ethereal delicacy, so I won't be able to sell it in large quantities, but you can look for it in 1/4 cup quantities in my shop by Monday!

Today was wreath-form making day! My sons and I harvested this mass of wild grape vine in the winter, when we discovered it was strangling the apple and willow trees it had grown through. It was a lot of work, but fun. It's been curing since then, waiting for me to do something with it...
I like making wreaths. It's soothing work, taking all the disarray and making it orderly--unless a stray vine whacks me in the face! Ouch! Nonetheless, I love watching the messy vines untangle, then take on a new shape, one that is recognizeable, useful, and perhaps, even beautiful.
Once the wreaths were finished, I took some time to photograph them in the trees where I was working. I like to look through them. Its like looking through a window in time, to when life is bright, green, growing, and new, even if times now are dry and brittle. It looks like Hope.
