I decided to frame this piece with lead came for the first time and absolutely love the finished look. It gives the piece a more polished feel and some extra structural support.

What I wasn’t expecting was how much I would struggle with the corners. Every cut seemed to crimp the came, so I had to open it back up before fitting it over the glass. Then came the challenge of getting those corner angles to line up correctly. 😅

Even after finishing and revealing this piece, I found myself coming back to this part of the process and thinking about what I could improve next time. It was definitely a learning experience, and I know there’s still plenty to refine.

For those of you who use came regularly, what are your best tips for getting clean corners and accurate miters? I’d love to hear what works for you!

Josh saw a stained glass version of George’s “Timeless Art of Seduction” years ago and immediately put it on his wish list.

So this year’s Father’s Day gift was pretty easy to choose. 😆

From redesigning the pattern, choosing the glass, foiling, soldering, adding the black patina, and finishing it with came, this one was such a fun project from start to finish.

And judging by his reaction, I’d say it was a success. ❤️

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever asked someone to make for you?

There’s something so satisfying about watching all the foiled pieces find their way back into place.

This is the stage where the pile of glass finally starts looking like the finished piece again. One piece at a time, George is coming together. 😆

Anyone else find this kind of thing oddly relaxing?

Not all stained glass steps are flashy. 😅

Before soldering can begin, every piece has to be cleaned with 90% isopropyl alcohol, wrapped in copper foil, burnished, and sometimes trimmed. Textured glass can be especially picky, but taking the extra time now makes a huge difference later.

This is one of those slower behind-the-scenes steps that helps everything come together in the end.

What stained glass process would you like to see next?

Finally got George’s head painted and attached during the foiling process!

This is my first time using Pebeo Vitrea 160 paint on stained glass, and I’m really happy with how the details turned out. I used it for George’s hair and glasses, and now my brain is already thinking of other ways I could use both the black and white paints in future projects. Definitely looking forward to experimenting with it more.

I’m excited to see how everything comes together once it’s soldered and finished. What do you think so far?

Today is World Clubfoot Day. 💙

Both Anya and I were born with clubfoot.

These photos show a small part of that journey—from tiny casts and braces to where we are today. It’s something that has shaped both of our lives in different ways, and it’s one of the many things we’ve shared as mother and daughter.

I’m grateful for the doctors, treatments, and support that helped make our journeys possible, and I’m especially grateful for this girl. 💙

Today’s glass haul was extra special because it was purchased with a Mother’s Day gift certificate from my mom. 💙

I had way too much fun picking out all these gorgeous sheets, and now the hardest part begins… deciding what to make with them!

I shared each piece in the video, but I’d love to know which one caught your eye. Which glass is your favorite?

Who else gets their creative juices flowing at night? 💙

Definitely a night owl over here. Most of my late-night projects start with a random idea, a spool of cord, and “I’ll just make one thing real quick.” 😂

This air plant pod holder is one of those projects. A few finger snaps later… definite coastal vibes. 🌊
