Route 90 Business Association

Route 90 Business Association The many businesses are here to serve retail, residential and business needs and provide a multitude of products and services for your home or business. Hungry?

Welcome to the Route 90 Business Association. We are located on Rt. 90 in the towns of Warren, Rockland and West Rockport in the heart of Midcoast Maine. Today there are well over 100 small and larger businesses along this ten mile stretch of Maine highway which connects to Rt. 1 in Warren to the south and Rt. 1 again in Rockport to the north. While Rt. 90 makes a valuable short cut through the Mi

dcoast, its real value is in the locally owned and operated business along the way. The Route 90 Business Association was founded in 1994 to provide a forum and a united voice discussing issues concerning Route Ninety Businesses and to collectively promote the area as a local shopping destination for retail and service businesses. Local businesses mean local jobs and add to the tax base of their towns and cities. Our member businesses include; manufacturers who serve an international clientele, retailers who are well established and offer products from wood stoves and fireplaces, high-end kitchen appliances, patio and home furnishings to computers stores, marine dealers, multi dealer antique shops, a lighting center and a store specializing in wedding attire. We have a country store with a deli and the best pizza and sandwich shop in the area. When looking for contracting services, our members provide a local professional option from custom builders offering stick built, post and beam and modular home options. Renovations and commercial buildings are a specialty of many of our member companies. From our member building material suppliers, the homeowner, the contractor or the architect finds everything from windows, doors, custom flooring and stairs to hand cut granite and specialized millwork. Service companies also abound on Route 90. Our members include the traditional trades of excavation, landscaping, masonry, appliance, automotive & small motor repair, plus painters, roofers, well drillers and concrete specialists as well as dental offices, orthopedic therapists, yacht rentals, a coin & gold appraiser, moving and storage companies and even a commercial cutlery service..

Here at the Route 90 Business Association, we are big supporters of shopping local. We have many stores and services that are on our long street called Route 90.Local Business generates 70% more local economic activity per sq. ft than big box retail. Shopping local also helps save our environment. The U. S. transports and ships $2.2 trillion worth of products from over 150 countries every year. International shipping and transport results in:
1) 11 billion gallons of fuel used per year internationally
2) 1 billion metric tons of CO2
3) 25% of CO2 production in most nations
Inductrial pollution is responsible for almost 50% of the pollution present in the United States. Each year, U. S. factories:
1) Spew 3 million tons of toxic chemicals into our air, land, and water
2) Dispose 275 million metric tons of hazardous waste
3) causes us to lose over 15 million acres of land

What can you do to help?
If every family in the United States spent an extra $10 a month at a locally owned, independent business instead of a national chain, over $9.3 billion would be directly returned to our economy!

The people who run stores and businesses in your community are your neighbors, so when you frequent a local business, it’s the economic equivalent of a neighbor helping a neighbor. The benefits do not stop there! When a community’s small businesses are successful, everybody wins. The entire community enjoys greater economic stability. It’s been estimated that over 50% of every dollar spent on a small business goes directly back into that small community. Shopping small means helping your neighbors and supporting your own community.

This week, we are showcasing our appliance shops in the area.
Please help support these local businesses!
