We were so sad to hear of the passing of Vicky Pearson from Vicky's Rocks, Readings, & Books. I got to know Vicky when we sent customers to each other's shops for whatever we didn't have. She was always kind, encouraging, and supportive of everyone. You don't meet many people in life about whom EVERYONE agrees, but Vicky was one of those people. I never heard a negative word about her from anyone. To the contrary, whenever her name was mentioned, people invariably smiled and said how sweet and generous she was. Our community has lost a really good soul. Blessings on your journey, Vicky, and our deepest condolences to everyone whose life she touched.

The grey guy is Izzy, the one on the right is Skippy. I had both these guys for 14 years, then lost them both in January. 🥺😭
But that is not the point of this post. The point is this: I love kitties, and I love people who care for animals. Which is why I donated all remaining Spellbound merch to https://www.shoprescued.com/, a wonderful shoppe in Silvis which donates its profits to local animals in need. So please go visit them, get some cool stuff, and help out our furry pals. Thanks! 😽

It is with a very heavy heart that I announce another loss in the Spellbound family. I think I can safely say Austin was my best customer. His love of books was insatiable. I asked him once, "Do you really read all these?" He smiled and said, "Most of them. Some are for reference." I eventually let him sell them back on consignment when he'd run out of room.

Austin was literally one of the smartest people I have ever met. He used to come in and we'd have the most fascinating conversations. He would occasionally tell me about plans he had to solve many of the world's problems. I would say, "Austin, I have a feeling that if anybody could do it, it would be you. Remember me & Spellbound when you're famous and getting the Nobel Prize."

One day I must've given him too much change back. He called and left a message on my machine saying he left $1.37 under my welcome mat. He was just a good guy, through and through.

But my very favorite part about Austin is that every time he would leave, he would look me straight in the eyes and say, "I hope you have a wonderful day." And I knew he meant it. I will miss him very much.

In other sad news, I am heartbroken to say we lost my mom Judy last week. She was a big supporter of Spellbound & of me. When I first opened in 2015, a newspaper reporter asked what she thought of her daughter opening a witchy store. My mom's answer? "It's about time!" She will be very missed. 💙
