I'm just popping in to say I've been SO busy with other life endeavors that I haven't had time to keep up with my bookstore, or this account. The online store is shut for now - hopefully one day I'll be able to get back to it!⁣

In more exciting news, the shelf at Nu Movement is now a little free library! Feel free to take any books that speak to you, and drop off any of your own that you'd like to share. We added an optional donation element, too - if you're so inclined, scan the QR code on the shelf to donate to the World Literacy Foundation

You ever get stuck reading a book that you just can't wait to finish? I've spent most of March slogging my way through A Confederacy of Dunces - it's not quite bad enough to DNF, but I truly cannot understand the hype. 😬⁣

Don't Cry For Me by absolutely devastated me this weekend. It only took me three days to read, but I'll be thinking about this one for a long time. ⁣
⁣
Jacob is dying and wants to make amends with his estranged son Isaac. Isaac is gay and Jacob has never been able to accept his son for who he is. In this epistolary novel, Jacob recounts his life, his family's history and explores the deep shame he's carried throughout his son's life. Don't Cry For Me is a story about regret, loss and generational trauma - if you haven't read it yet, you absolutely must!⁣

One year ago today, I created this account in hopes of reconnecting with my love of reading. Fast forward to now - I'm reading every single day and sometimes nearing double digits on my books read for the month. It worked! ⁣

Not only am I reading more, but my tastes are constantly expanding. I read SO many books in 2021 that I never would have picked up if it weren't for this little corner of the internet. ⁣

I'm about halfway through Dan Savage's latest and as usual, it's excellent - sarcastic, witty, filthy and insightful. What are you doing with your Sunday afternoon?⁣

I did it!! I finally conquered my TBR backlog and am about to start January's novel! 🥳⁣

If you haven't read Olga Dies Dreaming yet, move it to the top of your list. It's such an important story and so beautifully, authentically told. ⁣

I'm excited to dive into The Magnolia Palace this week - I'm a sucker for historical fiction, especially when it has intrigue and family drama! How's your January going? ☃️⁣
