Starbucks isn't the only company with a secret menu. We shared a teaser with you last week, and we are finally ready to show off the newest addition.

Introducing the TAF Mute (more on the name at a later date).

We have been working behind the scenes to bring you our version of an extremely sought-after handmade cup mute by Alain Fauché, a former aerospace engineer and trumpet player. Mr. Fauché made a handful of these fantastic carbon fiber cup mutes approximately 30 years ago.

We are excited to bring you our first-ever mute incorporating carbon fiber. In addition to being light weight and strong, carbon fiber has fantastic acoustic properties. Its high resonating frequency and weight make this mute easy for the player to hear in acoustically imperfect settings. Carbon fiber keeps articulations pronounced, response fast, and is loved by microphones. All of these properties help prevent overblowing and allow the player to focus on the music.

Over the past few months, we've released several versions of this mute into the wilds of NYC. They have been tested in a wide range of applications: Broadway pits, classical, commercial, chamber, and jazz settings. Based on player feedback, our newest mute is proving to be extremely versatile.

Please note, this product is not a 1-to-1 replica of Mr. Fauché's mute. Instead, we used his design as our base and made adjustments to create a mute that works with a wider range of modern instruments.
