Words cannot express how completely blown away I am by the outcome of the Rochester Book Crawl Launch Party AND The Crimson Quill’s very first pop-up! 🖤📚

I went into the day hoping I’d meet some wonderful people (which was VERY true), get The Crimson Quill’s name out there, and introduce more people to what I’m building. Instead, I found myself selling out of almost everything, especially new books. I knew horror was a niche genre, but today made it very clear that Rochester has been in need of a horror bookstore, and I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to fill that space.

Rochester truly has such an incredible book community, from readers to booksellers to authors and everyone in between. I’m so grateful to every single person who stopped by, bought something, chatted with me, followed the shop, or simply showed their support.

A HUGE thank you to all of my friends and family who helped me turn this dream into a reality and continue to support me as I work toward eventually opening The Crimson Quill’s brick and mortar. And an extra big thank you to My Bookery ROC for coordinating such a phenomenal event and making The Rochester Book Crawl such a wonderful experience for everyone involved. 🖤

I had the absolute pleasure of reading an ARC of The Devil Knows Her Name by C.N. Vair, and words genuinely cannot express how much I loved this book. 🖤🌿

C.N. Vair blends slow-burn folk horror, witchcraft, and raw feminine rage into a story that is mysterious, emotional, dark, and completely immersive. I was immediately drawn in by the haunting atmosphere and Tess’s deep connection to animals and nature.

Tess is strong, witchy, clever, deeply complicated, and the kind of character I could not help but root for. This book reminded me of some of my all-time favorites, including Slewfoot, Weyward, and The Year of the Witching, while still feeling entirely unique and taking turns I never expected.

Thank you so much, C.N. Vair , for allowing me to read this beautiful book early. I truly cannot wait for everyone else to experience it when it releases at the end of this month! 🦌🩸

A new chapter is beginning for The Crimson Quill 🩸📚

I’m so excited to officially announce that I’ll be participating in the Rochester Book Crawl on August 15th at Kin Event Space! This will be The Crimson Quill’s first official pop-up, and I genuinely cannot wait to bring everything I’ve been working on to life.

For the time being, I’ll be focusing on pop-ups, local events, and growing the online side of the shop while continuing to work toward a future brick-and-mortar storefront. The storefront is still very much part of the plan. This is just the beginning of how The Crimson Quill will start making its way into the Rochester community. 🕯️🖤

At the crawl, you’ll find a curated selection of horror, gothic, and dark fiction, along with new and used books, bookmarks, stickers, candles, tarot, art prints, and more spooky little finds. 💀📖

The Booksellers are the first point of contact for customers at the Unreliable Narrator and provide a friendly, respectful, and helpful environment. This role involves assisting customers with book selections, maintaining store organization, handling sales transactions, and supporting general retail operations. We are actively looking for folks who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).
