Following a Dream
When I was editing my TaysHopeChest business page, I came across a section that would allow me to tell my story about how TaysHopeChest was established. And I decided to share this chapter of my story, as it has been unexpected and challenging, but rewarding all at the same time.
Through my childhood and teenage years I loved art, everything about it, because it gave me an opportunity to create something unique and beautiful. However, I did not pursue art, as it was not seen as an occupation that would “pay the bills”. I admit, the younger me wanted to accomplish big things and achieve a good salary. So, with that in mind, I went to college on a path to achieve a degree in the medical field. But, I soon realized that the path I was on did not make me happy and chose to change my field of study.
I graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a concentration in Criminal Justice. After receiving my degree, I set out with high hopes to achieve my dream job, with the idea that I could be anything that I wanted to be, and my college degree was just going to make it that much easier (or so that’s what I thought).
