Well, things change everywhere, and it is no different in the guitar shop. As work continues as usual, several new tools have taken a place in the shop. What makes these tools different is their use of lasers. Better? Who knows? But light sure does trace a straight line. Here is the semi-hollowbody in the works right now.

Well, work is moving forward on several guitars as we have just received our order of pickups from Seymour Duncan. Now, with the electronics going in, several guitars will be leaving the shop soon. It took a while to get the pickup order accepted and filled, but I think they will be a good match for our guitar line.

Some new guitars will be coming out of the shop really soon, if I can get one of my suppliers to take my order for parts.

The United States is marking a new chapter today. I do not know what changes will be made, and we can only change what we have direct control over in our life. For the most part, Overacker Guitars has been building guitars in the image of other manufacturers. This is mainly what people want, and we take pleasure in building what they want. However, it is time to move on. Overacker Guitars will complete the current builds in the shop now, and then turn a page. We will be designing our own unique guitars. We will continue to make the designs that people like, and toss aside those that do not do well in the market. We will be increasing our use of reclaimed lumber, and do our best to purchase farmed lumber if at all possible. We have a nice selection of exotic woods, but we have no plans to purchase any more. We will be making the move from toxic Nitrocellulose finishes to Non-Toxic water based Lacquer finishes. It is clear to us that we, as manufacturers must stand up for our environment. We will do that at Overacker Guitars.

The refinish Fender Telecaster Special in Sherwood Green Nitrocellulose Lacquer. The gouges put into the guitar, evidently in an attempt to "relic" the guitar. have been filled and repaired. It looks much better, and still plays great.

I have finished shooting the finish on the refinish job for a Fender American Special Telecaster. The original finish was a rather thick application of polyurethane in Vintage Blonde. Not my choice of guitar finishes, but Fender uses it because they can spray it on thick and fast. Evidently production is more important than quality, even in USA guitars. Well, all of the sound deadening finish is gone and has been replaced with a much thinner finish of nitrocellulose lacquer in Sherwood Green. Now, to wait a while for the lacquer to harden before finish sanding and buffing. This Tele should look and sound much better.

This guitar was just refinished and rebuilt in the shop. It is a 1997 Gibson Les Paul Studio. It was originally finished in Wine Red. The previous owner abused the guitar to a small extent, as it was covered with dings and dents. Plus, he also decided to carve his name into the heel of the neck. The guitar was disassembled, stripped, and the damage to the body repaired. It was then refinished in Pelham Blue Nitro Lacquer finish and a thin coat of Nitro Lacquer clear. The black k***s, pickguard, rings and plates were replaced with cream parts. I like the look, and it plays great.

Some figured maple billets are getting ready for resawing into an assortment of book matched carve tops and flat drop tops. These are the billets that will be resawn.

Overacker Guitars just added a binding routing system to the shop. This should make the touchy task of routing binding and purfling channels much more consistent and less stressful.... I hope.
