Local Business Champion Real Estate in Westport! Q: What do you like most about your job?
🏡What I love most is the combination of creative marketing challenges and the personal relationships I build with clients. Every property tells a story, and I get to use my marketing and innovative advertising strategies to tell that story in the most compelling way possible. There’s incredible satisfaction in seeing my listings featured in publications like Architectural Digest, Town & Country, and the Wall Street Journal, but what truly drives me is that moment when I hand over keys to families and know I’ve helped them find their perfect home. The blend of creativity, strategy, and human connection makes every day exciting. Q: What sets you apart from other local realtors?
🏠 Several things differentiate me: First, my proven marketing expertise - I’ve published two books on home selling and marketing, and my listings regularly appear in major national publications. Second, my role as a local strategist for Suburban Jungle gives me unique insight into helping out-of-town buyers find the perfect neighborhood. Third, my 35+ years of deep local knowledge combined with my vast network throughout Fairfield County. Finally, my innovative approach to technology and social media marketing ensures maximum exposure for my listings. I’m not just selling homes - I’m creating comprehensive marketing campaigns that consistently deliver top dollar for my sellers while providing exceptional service for my buyers as well. Why Small Businesses Matter in Westport made possible by Local Business Champion:
** New Mom School Westport is hosting its Grand Opening on Sunday, June 1, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at 25 Sylvan Road South, Suite U, Westport **
Meet Abby Dixon, owner and instructor at New Mom School in Westport.
Q: Why did you start your business?
A: By trade, I am a Licensed Maternal Mental Health Specialist, and I recognized the need for moms to have a community and access to specialists and resources in addition to therapy. Supporting moms and allowing them to connect and learn is our WHY.
Q: What is your best-selling product/service?
A: Our best-selling class is tied between our Newborn class, which serves moms and their babies aged 0-3 months, and our infant class, which serves moms and their babies aged 3-6 months!
Q: How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
A: One of my goals in bringing New Mom School to Westport was to use as many local and mom-owned businesses as possible in building and running the business. Our lactation partner, is run by 2 local mothers and is based in Norwalk. My Social Media Manager is Stephanie Formisano of Form Creative Co., an expecting mom located in Blackrock. Massage is our partner for our grand opening on June 1, and Purple Cow Cleaner run by a local Weston dad, makes sure our studio is cleaned and sanitized for our moms and babies! There are too many to list, but part of the joy of bringing New Mom School here is the collaboration with local businesses!
Q: Have you “reimagined” your small business?
A: I have augmented my small business! I imagine New Mom School Westport to be a community for new and young parents in Fairfield County. Saturday will host our free “Dads and Donuts” for dads to be able to connect and gain confidence with their little ones. We host many free support groups, and hope to become a social hub for moms by hosting game nights, craft nights, and lecture series as well!

Why Small Businesses Matter in Danbury made possible by Meet Valeska Bernal, founder of
Q: Why did you start your business?
A: We started our business as a continuation of a proud family tradition. For generations, our family has owned and operated gutter companies, passing down not just skills, but a deep-rooted commitment to quality workmanship and honest service. Growing up in that environment, we learned the value of hard work, integrity, and treating every customer like family. When it came time to take the next step, we decided to expand the family trade by moving into the roofing industry. It felt like a natural evolution—building on our legacy while meeting a broader range of needs for the homeowners and communities we serve. Our business is more than a job—it’s our family’s passion and purpose.
Q: What is your best-selling product or service?
A: As a family-owned business rooted in generations of craftsmanship, we proudly offer complete exterior solutions with a focus on quality, reliability, and style. Our services include custom gutter installations in a wide variety of styles—ranging from standard K-style to half-round, European, and commercial-grade systems. We also specialize in asphalt roofing for both residential and commercial properties, backed by a 10-year workmanship warranty on all roof replacements. As GAF-certified contractors, we bring industry-leading standards and trusted expertise to every project, ensuring lasting protection and peace of mind for our customers.
Q: Anything else you want the community to know?
A: We have stayed true to the values our family has always believed in—honesty, quality, and fair pricing. As a small, family-owned company, we don’t carry the overhead that big corporations do, so we don’t believe in inflating prices just to boost profits. Instead, we focus on delivering real value—quality work at a fair rate, with transparency every step of the way. Our goal isn’t to make a quick buck; it’s to build lasting relationships with our customers and be the kind of company people can genuinely trust.”

Q: Why did you start your business?
☕️We couldn’t find a local roaster that focuses on Specialty-Grade, Single-Origin coffee. It was also hard to find freshly roasted coffee, rather than beans that have been sitting around getting stale. Also, being a Norwalk native, I am proud to be able to offer some amazing coffee to my friends and neighbors.
Q: What is your best-selling product or service?
☕️ Our Cold Brew is super popular and is a product that can be purchased ready to drink at local cafes. Our best-selling service would be our free local delivery of our bags of beans.
Q: Do you use any local businesses to support your operations?
☕️ Our coffee is sourced from an importer in NY, but we have wholesale deals with and coming soon... We’ve also collaborated with Spacecat Brewing Company and 🍨 .
Q: Have you reimagined Strigo Coffee?
A: Yes! During COVID most cafes and restaurants weren’t buying coffee or taking on new accounts. We shifted our focus on free home delivery since everyone was at home! Now this is an integral part of our business and ensures super fresh coffee by roasting on Tuesday and delivering on Wednesday every week.

Q: Why did you start your business?
A: We launched NBALAB to drive product innovation and expansion for the NBA’s Global Licensing Group. As an experimental platform, NBALAB collaborates with visionary companies and individuals making waves in their respective industries, exploring new consumer goods and product categories. Successful partners gain the opportunity for further product development and potential long-term licensing within the league.
Q: What is your company’s mission?
A: We support small and minority-owned brands in their pursuit of NBA and NBPA IP licensing rights—opportunities that are typically reserved for larger companies with the resources to meet legal and financial requirements. Our mission is to help emerging brands navigate this process and grow within the NBA ecosystem.
Q: How do you support fellow local businesses?
A: A great example of our innovative approach is BLACC BOTTLE, a local brand based in Bridgeport, which we’ve helped explore licensing opportunities in ways that challenge industry norms.
Q: Have you re-imaganed NBALAB?
A: We are constantly evolving, drawing inspiration from both emerging and seasoned entrepreneurs who challenge us to rethink and refine our approach. Their creativity, resilience, and fresh perspectives fuel our innovation, ensuring that we stay ahead of the curve in an ever-changing marketplace.
