Own a piece of American history!

Here I have a SIGNED first edition of You Learn By Living, by none other than First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. It is a complete and beautiful copy in very good condition, with the dust jacket which is in excellent condition as well.

You Learn By Living by Eleanor Roosevelt. 1960, first edition, published by Harper & Bros. Publishers, New York. 211 pp. Approx. 8.75x6x1 inches. Hardcover with dust jacket in protective mylar cover. Signed by the author in blue ink on half title page. Signature is consistent with other hand-signed autographs from that period of the author's life. This book was published just two years prior to Roosevelt's death, meaning that this could be one of her last known signatures.

Book is in very good condition with secure binding and no loose or missing pages. Aside from signature and provenance notes on title page, there are no markings or folds, bends or tears of any kind on the pages. There is a small tear in the surface paper of the boards on the back of the book (pictured). Dust jacket is in very good condition with only minor shelf wear and cosmetic blemishes. Not price clipped, shows price of $3.95.

An estate find from the library of a known, serious local book collector, provenance known from 1988, purchased then from another known local book collector (that I knew personally).

This is a fascinating book of home decor, published in 1899. It is filled with black and white photos of examples of interior design ideas that were considered the height of middle-class fashion at the time. Books published during this time rarely included photos printed on the pages, though they may have had illustrations. This book is unique because It does not merely have illustrations, but photos of actual rooms and homes.

This book is in shockingly good condition, especially with consideration given for its age. Some minor cosmetic defects present, however, the binding and other structural aspects of the book are sound and secure. Owner name written on from flyleaf.

Art Monograms and Lettering, Vol. 1, 12th Ed., JM Bergling, 1927

This is a rare opportunity to own a copy of the lettering and print artist classic Art Monograms and Lettering by JM Bergling (Vol. 1, 12th edition, 1927). This volume is filled with lettering examples, monograms, engraving design ideas, and many other design samples in classic art deco/art nouveau style.

In good condition. Some minor cosmetic defects present, however, the binding and other structural aspects of the book are sound and secure. Some minor water damage to edges and corners of outer binding. Some waviness to some pages, but none of the print seems to be affected.

I have here a first edition Jack London Little Lady of the Big House, his last novel, concerning a love triangle based on his relationship with his wife Charmian Kittredge London.

It is inscribed by Charmian herself to Jack's childhood friend and relative Montel Montgomery. Opposite the inscription is Jack London's own bookplate.

The book is in very good condition with some minor rubbing to corners and edges of boards. Boards are bright. Clean pages, binding is secure, though not tight. Excellent piece.

This is a pretty amazing set! Picturesque Canada, published in 1882 by Belden Brothers. It features over 500 engravings of Canadian scenes over two volumes. They are full leather with marbled page edges and endpapers and they are huge! 13 x 11x 2 and each weigh about 8 lb. A very impressive looking set to have on your coffee table, indeed!
