Hi y’all. It’s Jay here. I’m not going to bury the lede too much. Our 10th anniversary is rapidly approaching and to commemorate it we’ve decided to close up shop. I could not be more proud of all that we’ve done and all that we’ve accomplished in this little room. We’ve been incredibly lucky and fortunate to have so many talented people be part of the history of our corner of Jackson Ward. At this time, it just feels right to be able to put a bow on this project and let it pass. There have been and will be more wonderful projects from those that have brought Saison to us all. I have more things I want to create and know that this current team has more they want to do as well.

12/12 will be our last day at Saison and Saison Market. Book your seat soon for one more taste. It has been an incredible opportunity to feed and inspire.

Thank you all for the appreciation and trust you’ve shown us!

Cheers!

Jay

We just got some Tannat from Bolivia that we are super stoked about! Scroll down to find out why!!
🇧🇴Right away, the tannins are way softer and luscious compared to your typical tannat. The acidity is high and the wine is fruit-forward (blackberries & plum) with leather and to***co notes following. The wine is full bodied with a lovely lengthy finish. The wine is more approachable than the Tannats we've had from warmer regions.
🇧🇴 Despite the tropical latitude, there is a moderately cool climate in Samapiata, Bolivia. The elevation is very high (1750 - hence the winery name) above sea level which means there is a high diurnal range in temperature here (warm days & cool nights). A wide diurnal range enables the grapes to retain their acidity as they slowly ripen and develop a diverse range of flavors and concentration. There are also cold winds coming in from Patagonia called surazos that whip into the plains and prevent the grapes from overripening.
🇧🇴 We love that the label pays homage to the fierce and beautiful indigenous Guarani tribe. If you haven't already, watch the La Paz, Bolivia episode on the Netflix series: Street Food: Latin America" to learn more about this tribe. Trust us.

At Saison, it is our mission to not only open your eyes (and palates) to new wine regions, but it's also to showcase winemakers with diverse backgrounds with you all! We're incredibly excited to bring Kita Wines to our shelves. Scroll down to learn more
Kita Wines is the first winery owned by the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians. They are also the first tribe to both operate and own a winery & vineyard in the US. Their appreciation for Mother Earth is represented in everything they do from farming, winemaking, and even the packaging with symbolic labels & wine names. For instance, "Kita" means "Our Valley Oak" in the Chumash native language of Samala. They have hired Tara Gomez, who is also the daughter of the tribe chairman.
This wine is a powerful blend of Grenache Syrah, and Carignane. It is incredibly vibrant on the nose & palate with notes of cracked black pepper, licorice, juicy blackberries, freshly picked violets, and cigar box. Due to its complexity and exceptional structure, this wine can be enjoyed alone but can also be paired with a rich stew.

With the season changing, we're super excited to offer this cult-favorite dark Rosato BY THE GLASS!
Due to the extremely limited supply, we're offering the wine this weekend ONLY! Susucaru is a natural wine made by Frank Cornelissen in Sicily!
The wine is full of volcanic minerality (the grapes are grown on Europe's biggest and most active volcano - Mt. Etna!).
When you stick your nose in the glass, you'll immediately be hit with super juicy and ripe strawberries, blood orange, and tart cranberries.
The 2021 vintage is showing so incredibly well that even critics of Natural Wine are shook!
People think that Rosè should only be drunk in the summer and we’re here to show you that it ain’t!

Guys, we’re obsessed with these mini Grower Champagne bottles bc they’re perfect for a “treat yoself” solo date @ The Market! We especially love this one from Champagne Leclerc Briant! Scroll down to find out why!
🍾 The Leclerc Briant Champagne house started farming and making wine biodynamically way before it was cool! All the way back in 1988!
🍾 This is a “Grower Champagne” which means the end-to-end production from growing the grapes, all the way to making the wine and selling happens in house. This is pretty rare and super tough to do in Champagne where the big houses like V***e & Moët tend to reign!
🍾 This bottle of champs is a beautiful blend of Pinot Noir (for roundness), Pinot Meunier (for delicate fruit &. floral aromatics), and Chardonnay (for zingy acidity)!
🍾 The Leclerc Briant family had to practice some serious delayed gratification & restraint by having the wine sit in stainless steel tanks for a whole year and then another 2 years on the lees! Seriously, they didn’t cut any corners! Imagine being a small producer and not making an ROI for years!
🍾 The best part is definitely the wine itself which has incredibly beautiful notes of tangerine juice 🍊, green apple🍏 , stunning delicate jasmine and honeysuckle floral 🌸 notes, with subtle brioche & lemon 🍋 poundcake!

Try it out and let us know what you guys think!

Tbh, we can’t get enough of this Spanish pet nat from Spain. It’s bubbly, fresh, and dry. 🥂
We’ve tried it with various cuisines and it tasted amazing with Indian food (Chole,, aloo gobi, chicken tikka masala), as well as Japanese cuisine (sushi, ramen, and yakisoba)! You hungry yet?! 🍲
Furthermore, the winemakers are rebellious af (and we’re here for it)! 😈
Since they don’t grow grapes in a DOC designated appellation in Spain, they aren’t allowed to put the name of their location on the label (the mountain ranges of Sierra de la Contraviesa). 🏔
Instead they decided on a word play for the label, titling the wine “La Traviesa), which means “naughty” 😼.
The image on the label is from an old film from 1935 called “Naughty Marietta” 🎥 🍿
So whether you’re getting a little “traviesa” on your Netflix & Chill night with your boo 😻or having some deliciously spicy food 🍱 , this wine will definitely elevate your evening!

We’re excited to bring Chateau Musar’s wines to the market all the way from Lebanon! Scroll down to learn more about what make these wines so special!
Musar’s family managed to produce incredible wine despite the civil war that was wreaking havoc from 1975 - 1990. The primary wine region, Bekka Valley, is located on the border of Lebanon and Syria (a hot spot for instability); therefore, the original owner placed the winery about two hours away, closer to Beirut (even in 1928 the border was unstable). Apparently this drive from the vineyard was a dangerous one:
Imagine transporting your freshly picked grapes to your winery with gunshot shells dropping all around you.
Imagine arranging your wife and three kids' escape plan: a small boat in the middle of the night during a heavy shelling of the port because it was more dangerous for them to stay with you.
Imagine staying behind to continue making wine all because of your determination to carry on the wine institution in your country.
Imagine converting part of your wine cellar into a bomb shelter for refugees fleeing Beirut.
Although the stories are alluring, the wines easily stand on their own with complex layered aromas of blackberries, strawberry, prunes, that deeply evolve over hours going through phases of nutmeg, to***co, licorice, cumin, and lavender seeds.
Have you guys tried Chateau Musar wines? What do you love most about them?
