🌎✈️ Sometimes serving takes you across the world.

Sometimes it takes you across the street.

While the destination may change, the mission never does.

It’s easy to think missions only happens in places that require a passport. But we are told simply to “Go.”

Go to your neighbor.
Go to your coworker.
Go to your child’s school.
Go to the nursing home.
Go to the food pantry.
Go to the other side of the world if He calls you there.

The distance isn’t what matters.

Your willingness is.

At West End Thrift, every donation, every volunteer hour, and every purchase helps send people into communities—both here in RVA and around the world—to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Some will board an airplane.

Some will cross a parking lot.

Both are obedience.

🎬 Chronicles of the West End Thrift Donation Pile: Episode ___

Every donation cart is a mystery.

One minute it’s graphic tees…
The next it’s a toaster-shaped cookie jar.

Then a collector’s item.
A guitar.
Vintage toys.

And somehow…

🌳 A Bob Ross Chia Pet head.

We truly never know what’s coming through those donation doors—and honestly, that’s half the fun.

Every day is a treasure hunt, every cart tells a different story, and every purchase helps create a global impact.

So… what will tomorrow bring?

Probably something we never saw coming. 😂

🌎🤍 Missions Monday

Meet Greg—one of our Assistant Store Managers.

When he’s not helping customers find treasures or keeping things running at West End Thrift, he’s helping support missionaries around the world.

Recently, Greg joined a WEAG team in the Dominican Republic, where they spent a week serving alongside Julia Ashman, one of the missionaries your purchases help support.

One of the things we love most about missions is this:

We don’t just send money. We send people.

There’s something powerful about showing up. Listening. Encouraging. Working shoulder to shoulder. Praying together. Reminding our missionaries that they are seen, valued, and not alone.

During the week, the team:
💜 Delivered 50 sustainable hygiene kits to women in the Haitian community.
📖 Led a Vacation Bible School for 49 children centered on the truth that God is good—no matter our circumstances.
🎨 Painted classrooms, organized materials, and helped prepare the school for a new year.
🙏 And before leaving, they gathered in Julia’s classroom to pray over her, her students, and the upcoming school year.

Sometimes the most important thing you can give isn’t a project or a donation…

It’s your presence.
