Did you know Richmond, Va was the largest source of enslaved Africans on the east coast of American from 1830 to 1860? June 19, 1865 marks the anniversary of proclamation of freedom for the enslaved Africans in Texas.
Here is a picture of me looking over the James River at the Richmond Slave Trail. The same place that my ancestors walked on the way to be sold. As I celebrate this momentous occasion, I can only wonder what they thought and how they felt. I hope I am making them proud.
