So... yesterday (Sunday the 15th) was National Cupcake Day!? Well, someone clearly woke up on the right side of the bed and decided the world needed an excuse to eat more cake! Who are we to argue! We may be a day late but we strongly feel these tiny delightful cakes are celebration worthy every day!
Way back when, before they were Instagram-worthy delights, cupcakes were just practical little cakes. Imagine a world where measuring ingredients was a hassle! Enter the cupcake, born from the brilliant idea of measuring everything in cups. No more fussy scales, just a simple 1-2-3-4 recipe: a cup of butter, two cups of sugar, three cups of flour, and four eggs.
These early cupcakes werenโt the fancy, frosted treats we know today. They were more like humble little cakes, often baked in teacups or ramekins. It wasnโt until the Industrial Revolution that cupcake pans were invented, making mass production possible.
