Reno Bike Project (RBP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community bicycle shop and resource, which advocates for a sustainable cycling community through education, collaboration, and accessibility for everyone in the Truckee Meadows. RBP is built around the belief that the bicycle is the world’s greatest, most utilized mode of transportation and that every individual, regardless of age, gender, race, or class has a right to afford, maintain, and enjoy one.

We are partnering up with our friends at New Belgium and the Sierra Tap House to raffle off this beautiful bike made by Brooklyn Bikes for New Belgium, this thing is sick and it could be yours for the low low price of a $5 raffle ticket. The drawing will be held this Friday, May 29th, at 7pm at Sierra Tap House. All proceeds will go to benefit us at the Reno Bike Project. Come and show some support, have a few bevies, and maybe ride home on this beautiful brand new bike.

Tuesday Tommy’s Top-Notch Two-Wheel Transportation: Taga Family 2.0. A cargo bike for the most precious of cargo, pomeranians. I guess you can put human children in here too, there are seatbelts. Picture the scene, your cute little family, riding drop top, stunting on everyone, on the
way to the farmers market. Or sans family, rolling three pomeranians deep, stunting on everyone, on the way to Jelly Donut. The possibilities are endless. And on the Taga website you can really hook this thing up. Accoutrements galore. From car seat attachments to rear rack options. This Taga Family 2.0 is fully customizable, it can even be stripped of everything down to a pretty deep bucket. Dubbed the minivan of cargo bikes. The top speed is about 15 MPH, and the bike is mostly pedal assist. There is a throttle but throttle alone tops out at about 5 MPH
and is mostly used to maneuver the bike at slow speeds. The reviews I have seen say that the bike feels really stable and even more so when loaded up. They also say that 20 miles is a safe bet per charge, of course there are tons of variables. On the Taga website the Taga Family
Electric Duo Seater is on sale for 3,552 Euros. Here at the Reno Bike Project it is on sale for $1,000. Which is a $3,158 dollar discount, and I would guess your money would be better spent with us. They say the basket's max weight is 154 lbs. Well they actually say 70 Kilos. They also give a max weight for the rider, 110 Kilos, or 242 lbs. Come on in and check this thing out, it might be just what you are looking for. They even make a Taga water gun that mounts in the bucket for some summer time fun.

TTT-NT-WT: Sun Recumbent. Did you break your back? Is your back broken? Spinal? Did you have a motorcycle accident? Well, we might have the bike for you. This might be for you even without a broken back (spinal). Referred to as a “tadpole” this recumbent trike is road ready and priced to sell. Recumbents are available in a wide range of configurations, including: long to short wheelbase; large, small, or a mix of wheel sizes; overseat, underseat, or no-hands steering; and rear wheel or front wheel drive. Some recumbent riders may choose this type of design for ergonomic reasons: the rider's weight is distributed comfortably over a larger area, supported by back and buttocks. On a traditional upright bicycle, the body weight rests entirely on a small portion of the sitting bones, the feet, and the hands. Others may choose a recumbent because some models also have an aerodynamic advantage; the reclined, legs-forward position of the rider's body presents a smaller frontal profile. Recumbent bicycle designs date back to the middle of the 19th century. Recumbent designs of both prone and supine varieties can be traced back to the earliest days of the bicycle. Before the shape of the bicycle settled down following Starley's safety bicycle, there was a good deal of experimentation with various arrangements, and this included designs which might be considered recumbent. Although these dated back to the 1860s the first recorded illustration of a recumbent considered as a separate class of bicycle is considered to be in the magazine ‘Fliegende Blätter’ of 10 September 1893. These variations in the following years gave light to a bunch of different freaky amalgamations. Including my favorite, the ‘1945 Mochet Velocar’. Second favorite, the ‘Avatar 2000’, famously ridden by Christopher Walken in ‘Brainstorm’ (1983). Come down to the shop and take this thing for a test ride, if you want. It is a seriously good deal.

The March Madness Silent Auction is going LIVE starting tonight bidding on each item starts at $100 and will go up in $25 increments. The auction will be live until Movie Night on March 28th. The auction bid sheets will also be available at our shop during normal business hours, and at Game Night on March 20th as well as Rollerskate Night on March 23rd.
