“But how does the Outside Sale work?”
On Mondays we reset with fresh books — just $1 EACH.
- The first photo is Monday afternoon this week.
- We add more books every day, and usually have around 10,000 by Wednesday/Thursday.
- The last photo is from yesterday (Friday).
- On Sundays, you can FILL YOUR OWN BAGS FOR JUST $5/BAG.
- Then Monday we start the whole cycle over again with fresh books.
- We also have new books that were damaged or overstock at other retailers, still $1.
You’ll find everything from 2024/2025 bestsellers to kids books with creased covers, older nonfiction without dust jackets, and even 100-year-old books - sometimes that are literally in pieces. Most are in very good shape, and it’s definitely a treasure hunt.
The sale runs ALL DAY, EVERY DAY, ALL YEAR — weather permitting.
SELLING OR DONATING BOOKS?
- During buying hours (9–11am, Monday–Thursday only), we buy what we can use in the store and the rest can go to the Outside Sale.
- Typically, we pay $.20 each for comics, Blurays and vinyl records (except not Classical music as we usually have more than people want to buy).
- We don’t pay for books we know are going straight to the $1 sale.
- At the Donation Station outside, to the right of the entrance, you can get help to unload books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl, board games, puzzles, and more (Just a heads up — we’re not a real nonprofit. But we try to be awesome in all the ways!)
- Thank you so much!!
Anyone who comments with photos of treasures from Grassroots gets $5 OFF ANY PURCHASE. Use the secret code, “I helped you on social media for $5 off.” Only through this Wednesday, limit 1/person. Also, thank you so much!
