The first part of August has been crazy... in a good way! This isn't hyperbole; the first 10 days of August beat same-time sales of any prior year, including during the pandemic. We didn't publicize anything; it was more along the lines of "If you build it, they will come." The party continues for at least the next 6 days, through August 20th. After that, who knows.

Bicycles are not toys. This administration professes to want Americans to be healthier and less-reliant on drugs, and yet they're creating a serious threat access to cycling and keeping bicycles maintained. It is absolutely truthful to say that the present tariffs are an existential threat of Chain Reaction Bicycle's ability to survive.

This isn't about "toys." It's about basic bicycle maintenance items, like tires & tubes & pumps & saddles & chains & brake pads. This administration has created fear, uncertainty and doubt about what it might cost for our suppliers to bring in parts today, tomorrow, next week, next month. For now, nothing is coming in from China, because none of our suppliers can afford to bring in product today that might cost much less next month, if the administration can "cut a deal" as promised.

Curious about electric minipumps to carry with you on a ride, replacing hand pumps and CO2 cartridges? So were we! So we tested a number of them, considered importing them direct, but found the "perfect app" in the RockBros AS1-Pro, which we can sell for just $83.99 and includes a one year warranty.

We have tested it extensively and this one delivers the goods. 700x25 tires = 2 inflations to 100psi plus 22psi for a third
700x32 tires = Presently testing
700x38 tire = 6 inflations to 40psi
29x2.60 = 2 inflations to 30psi plus 20psi for a third

28 minutes to charge using a high-current (phone-type) USB-C charger.

Limitations? This isn't something to inflate multiple tires from flat to full pressure one after another. Let it cool down for a couple minutes between full inflations, or just spray a bit of water on the nozzle after inflation, to cool it down. Then she's ready to go! Noisy? Yes, all of these are noisy, but this is quieter than others we've tried.

We don't know how long we can hold the $83.99 price; this pump *is* made in China (as all we've seen are) and subject to tariffs that will potentially double its price, if the tariffs aren't rolled back. This is definitely a pre-tariff deal! (To be completely transparent, there have been base tariffs on goods from China for years, but they're relatively insignificant, in the range of 8-25% instead of the new 145%).
